Xbox Controller issue
Hello,
I have just purchased the game, and I'm unable to make it work with an Xbox Controller.
I tried enabling, disabling Steam Input, reinstalling ALL the HID drivers and controllers, updating the Xbox controller driver... not working.
It's just happening with this game, the rest in steam work fine. It's like the mapping is off, My RT is the Start one, and the overlay is showing numbers instead of XYBA...
More tests: When I go into a game, player just shoot to basket at the moment they receive the ball, no input from Xbox Controller, not mouse or keyboard.
It's unplayable. Any tips?

Which type of Xbox controller?
Have you sent in a ticket to 2K Support?
Do you have anything else connected via USB?
Are you using any 3rd party controller software?

Not solved.

I have an original Xbox One Controller, without 3rd party controllers software.
I have tried today plugging ONLY the controller, without keyboard or mouse, and it stills shows the generic buttons (1234), both with Steam Input enabled or disabled. Via USB I have an external hard drive connected only.
Steam Input correctly recognises the controller as a xbox controller, so, again, it's just an issue with nba 2k25.

Sent the ticket to 2K Support, so far, no helpful. To try the typical things reinstalling drivers and all of that stuff...

2K Support asking you to do those troubleshooting steps is normal. They have to eliminate your system as a cause first.

Could this help?

My Xbox controller same, but, I had a joystick connected also. Once I disconnected the joystick, the xbox controller worked fine. Does same in wwe2k22&3 so must be a 2k thing My controller is the elite series 2 xbox controller

Nope, it did not.

By any chance have you tried playing the game without the external drive connected?

Just did it, not working. I unplugged everything, hard drive + keyboard + mouse, nothing.
I tried connecting and disconnecting the controller ALREADY inside the game, and it doesn't work. The PC recognize it as a Xbox Controller, it just don't work in game.

The most weird thing is that I tried to play a game, and when I get the ball, the player just shot to basket, without inputs.
I don't know... too bad it was a gift because I couldn't even ask for a refund.

That really sounds like something else is doing the inputs. Maybe this could identify the issue?
Open Device Manager and then in Human Interface devices, disable any "HID-compliant game controller" that isn't the one you are using. If you go into "Play Now" when you select a side, you'll see your controller is not "1". when you disable it, 1 will disappear. now restart your game and your controller will be 1.

We got into something, sadly, I don't know really how to solve it.
I said as you commented, paying close attention to that nº1 controller, and here are my findings:

As you see, it looks like there are 2 controllers, 2 CPUs, the Player 1 (Xbox Controller), and a Player 9 (Unknown).
I tried to uninstall and disable ALL HID, and the ones you see on next image remaining are the Keyboard and Mouse.

I tried disconnecting both from the PC, and yet, Player 9 remained there. I tried to disconnect also my external hard drive, yet, Player 9 still there.
It looks like somehow, NBA 2k25 detects a ghost controller in my computer, but I can't imagine what it is. Maybe it's the speakers, the monitor... who knows.
Let me know if something rings on your side, it's already making me crazy :steamfacepalm:

I think if you right click on one of them you can disable it. You might find what it is that way instead of unplugging it.

Facing this EXACT issue since Jan 1. Does anyone know of a fix please.
