GPU failed with error code 0x887a0020
Hi everyone,

After the recent NBA 2K25 update on Steam, I ran into some issues. The update file seemed to be corrupted, causing an infinite loop where it kept verifying the files. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

Since the reinstall, I keep getting the error code “0x887a0020” every time I try to launch the game. The error message says that an internal issue prevented the driver from carrying out the required operation. My GPU is an AMD Radeon RX 6600, and this issue only occurs with NBA 2K25—other games work fine.

I’ve already tried:

- Updating my graphics drivers.
- Reinstalling the game multiple times.
- Verifying the game files on Steam.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

The solution to fix the GPU error (error code 0x887a0020) on my AMD Radeon RX 6600 GPU was to disable the "Memory integrity" setting under the "Core isolation" security feature (on Windows)

Were you able to resolve the problem?

I have the same problem after the last update.
did this:
- reinstalled the game and installed fresh video card drivers
- disabled the steam overlay in the game

after these actions it crashed only once, with the same error.
the overall performance of the game is terrible, especially when you go out into the city.
