The cheating issue... NBA 2K25 Edition
If you want to discuss any cheating issues in the game, if there are any this year, this is the place to do it.

Just remember that naming and shaming goes against Steam's Code of Conduct, so anyone throwing accusations around will be reprimanded accordingly. This includes screenshots with player names. Please report cheaters to 2K Support.

A reminder that discussion on how the cheating is done is also against the rules. Even if everyone supposedly knows how to do it, don't spread it here for those who actually don't.

It's easy to report in-game this year so make sure you are.
What are the steps for that?

click on player with r3, select him on the social media, and there is an option to report on his card (with a submenu, cheats, offensive spoke, etc....) dont need to do nothing more

Now, even more people will buy this game and thus there will be more cheaters
Because of the title of this thread?

i guess more people will buy the game because it will be new gen unlike 2k24 which was old gen hence if cheating is still in the game, a lot of peeps are likely to cheat.

Just Play Singleplayer, its chill and not so stressfull pay 2 win

yeah u are right. i always play mycareer and it was boring with no storyline in 2k24. i only enjoyed playing VR because i made a lot of VC for rebirth builds.

They seemed to make an attempt at anti-cheat in 2K24 which seemed to have an effect. If they do that and a bit more, maybe it'll deter the cheaters more.

they should take it serious because we need fairplay. too many cheaters make online play boring.

yeah that's why I prefer to play NBA Games in my career instead of park etc... because of cheating issue if I'm bored playing NBA games in my career I will play my league.

Yeah, if you are new to NBA 2K games, do not buy this if you plan to play multiplayer. You will be in for a rude awakening.

Now, if they announce that they have something planned I could change my opinion, but just go look in the NBA 2K forums for previous years on Steam, and you can save yourself some pain. :loot:

Anti-Cheat?
Super grateful next gen is on PC, now what’s the update with cheaters? Madden next gen has anti-cheat on PC IK it’s EA but hmm what do yall think
They do, but didn't turn out very well for EA on top of the issues the game has on PC. A lot of people chose not to buy Madden on PC specifically because it doesn't run on Steam Deck because anti-cheat doesn't work on Steam Deck. 2K25 will not use it because 2K made sure the game is optimized and will run on Steam Deck. Smart move on their part. However, I do think there has to be some way they could do anti-cheat and maybe have the game detect the system it is running on and disable it as needed.

No-one knows for sure. It's all speculation at this point.

Yes, they absolutely will, and they will be doing it from day one. Do not buy this for multiplayer, unless its in your home multiplayer. You can easily do a search or go visit the forums for previous years and see everything you need to see. :loot:

In my opinion will be harder this year for cheaters because they have to write cheats for Next Gen... I hope so Next Gen will be too hard to make mods for them.... Current Gen was avalaible for years and everybody was using same hacks... I hope so this will not work again 2K

Cheating was also a thing between 2k16 and 2k20, but it wasn't as widespread. Back then, if 1 out of 10 people were using cheats, now it's sadly 2 out of 3. Let me explain how it became so common. When 2k21 started, there was a giant monster character in the park that was online 24/7. This character's name directed players to a cheat Discord server. he was standing there like a npc. When players saw that this character wasn't getting banned, they got curious and started creating the same monster character.

As a backend developer, let me explain why this cheater and others in nba 2k history have never been banned for cheating. (unless its a vc glitch or mycareer xp glitch). Your in-game nicknames are stored on Steam. For example, when you report a nickname like Tom, there are millions of Toms. The solution to this is quite simple: they could implement a system where everyone gets a unique ID in-game that can be right-clicked to report. But 2k doesn't like writing PC-specific code. Instead, they provide the game directly from console.

some console stuff like voice communication is broken on pc since 2k16. do they bother fixing it? no they just dont care pc. i bet you wont find a single person that works on pc side for 2k. some console developer just uploads same console files into steam and he leaves.

Talking about fairplay in pay2win is not really fair even if there are 0 cheaters. The thing is this game will never be fair (at least online part of it).

Don't underestimate cheaters. If there is a way, they'll find it. Just think about Zen and scripts :) To be honest it's even easier to do this on PC.

there is no pay2win here. They don't sell long arms or long legs here, and they don't sell a green throw. If you don't want to upgrade your player or you don't have time for it, then that's your problem.
