Turns out 2K24 had a poor return on investment for me for the following reasons
*My save file was wiped during the regular launch date. Went far into MyGM and MyRise so starting over was not fun.
*The gameplay is lackluster. The combo system is surprisingly not my biggest issue, but the pinfall and submission mechanics were wonky. There was no way you could escape Bret Hart's Sharpshooter or Kurt Angle's Ankle Lock when the match goes on for more than twenty minutes. There were times when I timed my pins correctly and it didn't register.
*The DLC was not bad, but it felt like an obligation to play it as I got bored with the game a month after release.
*After ten years of preordering WWE games, I just think there is no hope for this series. I know this is a pessimistic outlook, but things were shaping up for the series after 2K made the games better starting with WWE 2K22, only to fall into old habits again.
With that being said and the fact that WWE 2K25 isn't remotely interesting to me. I am not buying the game.
Because with 2K, the worst possible conclusion is often the most plausible.
The pinfall and submission system are crappy as hell, thanks for pointing it out, made my matches a hell. Didnt enjoy it at all
I will buy it when it is with an 85% discount or when they release WWE 2K26 and give this one as a gift.
I forgot to mention that the pinfall and submission mechanics relied a lot on stats. For some reason, 2K decided to give a lot of wrestlers ratings in the 60s and 70s which made the gameplay even more frustrating. Not to mention, Bret Hart and Kurt Angle's submission stats are maxed out which is understandable, but once you get locked in a sleeper hold by either of those two its over.
- The Submission Wheel is back, but there is an option to use the buttons.
- Chain wrestling is back, but has more depth put into it.
- You can dive off the barricades.
Does any of this change y'all's stance on buying the game? I am still on the fence for it.
Thats not a bad idea
All i care about is the CAW story mode. (MyRise? MyPlayer? Whatever its called.)
And the last time they did the dual gender story in 1 mode, it sucked.
Seen someone else mention bringing back create-a-story... If anyone at 2K ever sees this, i would strongly suggest that too.
Adds a ton of replay value, and as its an online feature (assuming you can share them), discourages piracy in an incentive-based manner. Rather than punishing paying customer like most titles do.
Thats likely whats missing to make MyUniverse hook the masses.
I couldnt care less about the island of irrelevance, or road to wrestlemania, or showcase, or any of those modes.
