A pet peeve of mine since 2k19 is that the crowd doesn't look like a crowd. I don't care about the model's details when I see repeated shirts and animations in clusters, that really takes my eye off the match. They've fixed it a bit in this game, but the animations are still there. 2k24, 50% of the crowd would wear white shirts sometimes for no reason.
It's too bad, because underneath all of the bugs / crashes is a VERY good wrestling game.
Probably the best iteration I've experienced.
But if it's a complete coin-flip on whether or not the game's going to hard-crash my entire PC when it's launched? Nah, I'm not going to recommend this to anyone for now.
Hey pal, did you bought the game ? Veredict? Is it worth for the roster, game modes ? Or should we stick to 2k24?
Personally, for me i didnt like 2k24. 2k23 was better IMO.
so my small rant for 2k25...
a lot of stuff seems to be locked behind certain game modes. i paid 120 bucks for deadman edition and i feel i am getting screwed because i am still having to fight for unlockables. miss the old days where pre ordering certain things unlocked everything for you.
and thats enough ranting...onto my review....
THE GOOD... is i am still playing and the game is not freezing or glitching at all. and i am having a good time. gotta be honest there.
THE BAD... custom entrances are very lagging when i try to edit them. takes too long to change anything.
THE UGLY... the issue is submission finishers... IE Charlotte / Becky Lynch / Natalya / Kurt Angle / Shamrock / ETC... they will get a finisher....and use it... but for some reason the AI just releases the hold when victory is CLEARLY about to happen...there is no excuse for this... 2k24 had the same crap. and its back this year.
and thats my review.
You have inter-gender matches now WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN AN EASY WIN FOR YOU, but you decided to screw that up too by making it so you could only fight for certain titles and not all titles? (I know it doesn't make since for a man to be the Woman's Champion, but come on, no one thought it would be stupid fun to have that?) You can't even have women bleed when they fight men? I feel like that would be some equal opportunity right there.
One of your modes doesn't even make it to PC of all systems?! I heard nothing but mixed reactions (More negative) about The Island, but on almost all the advertisements had this shown off so much and then you decide "Meh, let's not let PC have that mode"
And overall the heavy monetization as always in the MYFaction, if you wanted to get rid of ANYTHING from the PC version it should have been that.
Every single game you take a few steps forward, then you get Hulk Thrown to the very back of the room where you started. Man am I glad I waited long enough to see the reviews before getting this game. I think I will wait for a huge sale before touching this one, If I really want to play some wrestling games, I'll go play No Mercy or Smackdown Vs. Raw until this hits a big sale. I'm disappointed, why make a mode CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE? Why even make a mode exclusive to any system at all?! That is so disgusting.
Thanks for your review! Sadly I cant run this game with my current specs. Guess my 8 GB ram finally hit a game that it can't run lol.
The crashes would be fatal for me.
The roster was the big reason for me to buy it, but I guess I will stick to 2k24 for now and make my universe there for now and I will create some original caws
Thanks pal
Overall it looks cleaner and less buggy but outside of that not much of a change. The performance has improved as well.
2k25 looks a bit better, both in overall graphics and models, especially the women wrestlers.
Two things that bug/bugged me in 2k24 were this dark line wrestlers would have to try and represent a leg muscle flexing when wrestlers would often bend their legs. It looked like some weird shadow glitch. This seems to have been changed in 2k25 and leg muscles look A LOT better now and actually look like leg muscles.
The other thing was there would be insane ghosting when any part of the wrestlers moved in front of certain ramps or certain jumbotron/backdrops. It was some seriously horrible implementation of TAA that I believe was behind this. An example of this would be using wrestlers in the old Smackdown arena with the ramp cam. Any body part moving in front of the ramp would cause the ghosting/trails to be easily visible. Or even during intros you could see it in some arenas, both on the stage and sometimes on the screen behind them. This *seems* to be fixed now in 2k25. The overall anti-aliasing in some areas of the arenas also seems superior.
So yeah, it's a better looking game yet nothing drastic. Still no ray-tracing or any other advanced graphical features and intros are still locked to 30fps. Animations seemed to maybe be a touch better as I noticed less of the speed up that 2k24 still had with some moves. It also felt like wrestlers had more facial reactions this year yet that may be placebo. This could be a good or bad thing depending on how one viewed those faces/reactions last year.
Wrestlers showing visible bruising is neat but also a bit overdone.
They also didn't fix the insane amount of clipping through clothes that was in 2k24, where almost every single piece of clothing clipped in some way on every wrestler. Still seems just as bad in 2k25. Slap Liv Morgan's Christina Aguilera inspired outfit on and watch her ass clip through her pants every time she is bent over unless you zoom in to within a couple feet.
One definite downgrade for me is they changed the ramp cam zoom amount and angle. In 2k24, it had that higher up angle and less zoom which was nice but now it is basically just the same as the standard camera but showing the ramp. No idea why they made this change.
As you are an AI vs AI viewer like myself, I can tell you the AI at least in pre-release form is better than 2k24. Less irish whips, chucking the opponent outside the ring, dragging to the ropes or corners, and better awareness when outside of the ring to get back into the ring. I think they also don't just let go of submission holds like they did in 2k24 but I can't fully confirm this. Not that I say "at least in pre-release form" because 2k24 had better AI before release and they just ruined it over time with multiple patches. 2k25 could very well suffer the same fate. AI tag matches also seemed better (more double team moves and less constant tagging in and out) and I watched 3 ladder matches and all 3 were very enjoyable. FAR better than the garbage ladder matches in 2k24.
One thing to note with AI tag team matches is they were really good in pre-release in 2k24 only to become awful later on so again, who knows if 2k25 will end up being the same. Visual Concepts can't seem to fix things without breaking other things.
Still, I can say based on my time watching some matches, the AI here in pre-release 2k25 is better than the AI was in pre-release 2k24.
Given this is Visual Concepts we are talking about and they have shown incompetence at a stunning level, what I am about to say may not hold in a few months or even in a few weeks after the start patching but at this point in time, 2k25 definitely feels like a clear upgrade over 2k24.
