Promo subtitles missing

so unless i've missed some setting, but anytime i do a promo in universe mode there is no subtitles. i've turned on the setting and done a custom character promo and a wwe character promo and both are just awkwardly standing on stage but there are no subtitles so you have no idea what they are saying and then suddenly another character responds and you have no idea what the context is.

There are none, instead the commentators telling you what the promo is about.

It is supposed to be like that. You make your choice for the promo, and the commentary team explains everything.
They did it to avoid the same stale things being said over and over again.

so instead of just writing a bunch of promos, something that really wouldn't be that hard, they just make it a super awkward scene? that doesn't make any sense.

i'm not saying you're wrong, i'm just saying that are SO many ways 2k could go about this that wouldn't result in the wrestler just standing there making no sound or anything.

also the commentary is so generic it doesn't add anything

It's going to be the same stale things being said over and over again, but by the commentators.

Every time they have actual promos written out, everyone complains that they're not "good enough". This current method sounds like what was used in the original Season Modes, allowing you to get the description of what's going on so you can elaborate with your imagination.
