snitch rework
Why change the rules of how the Snitch plays? if they didn't want the game to end quickly then make it harder and add more depth to the snitch gameplay making it a hard but rewarding gameplay style.

Agreed.
I get it honestly. Especially for an online game, having the efforts of everyone on the team not matter because of one player might as well just make a single player Snitch racing game. I could see them doing a side mode with “real” rules though

I don't think they can honestly, quidditch rules are heavily skewed towards seeker and I don't see anyone being able to have a 16 goals difference in order to prevent the snitch catch to just win the game, I think it's not possible.

At most the snitch should be worth like 5 goals.

There is no way to add depth. No matter how hard you make it, an instant win from a snitch will just make everyone else's efforts pointless. It was stupid in the books/movies too, where it looked nearly impossible to catch the snitch (unless your teacher buys you a shiny new broom of course)
The snitch being caught 2+ times per match is wild. It aint even quidditch anymore :crashqmark:
Because this sport was invented just so that it can be put in a book. It doesn't have that much depth and you can easily come up with certain patterns to exploit its rules. As a kid I've already noticed that the best strategy would be to 'park the bus' and wait for the seeker to score you 150 points, or better, ignore scoring goals and help your seeker find the snitch as fast as possible with your entire team.
Like it or not, those changes were needed, otherwise it would all revolve around catching the snitch.

Being fantasy literature does not denounce the game. There are real life sports that make less sense than Quidditch, and your strategy suggestions wouldnt even work out unless you had no opponents. Things would play out as they should, and a whole team trying to get the snitch would be a terrible strategy, as theyd be scoring on you the whole time and youd never even catch the thing. It isnt supposed to be caught every match.

No, there is no sport that has a rule as dumb as "if that one role does this, the entire team wins/the match ends."

That isn't even the rule though lol It ends the match and gives 150 points. That's it. The video-games muted scores doesn't represent actual quidditch lore.

For example, in the Quidditch World Cup final in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Viktor Krum, the Seeker for Bulgaria, catches the Snitch, but Ireland wins the match because they had scored 2000 points compared to Bulgaria’s 170 points.

And real sports do have many decisive moments that fall on one persons role and lose the game instantly. Have you ever heard of shootouts? Drop goals? Golden goals?

Shootouts? Drop goals? Golden goals? Okay in which of those does the team depend on ONE person or else everything is bust. Anyone can score a golden goal, even in penalties, anyone can take them, even DEFENDERS or the GOALKEEPER lol. Its dumb and not practical to make a role so OP.

Also regarding your example, why would I catch the snitch if my team is losing and it ends the game? I would just bother the other team's seeker so he cannot catch it til those 150 points actually make the difference.

This is a videogame, it has to be practical and the gameplay be balanced and playable, seeker is dumb in the books and would be dumb in a videogame about quidditch. You can complain about it not being lore accurate but its for the right reasons bro.

One person? You mean the shooter or the goalkeeper? lol Theres been refs/umps that have made a team lose off their one call and they arent even playing.

You would catch the snitch for pride if you know the game is lost. They still make headlines as the Snitch catcher because its supposed to be an actual feat that still lessens a loss and raises social status. You have yearly stats as a Snitch catcher.

Whatever you have to tell yourself to try and feel correct. Its a videogame and what other platform would be better to bring actual quidditch to life and not some bouncing off a forcefield 4 snitches a match gameplay lol
