What I found you can do though is just buy one and quickly move it around your fields, it waters a patch of up to 8 (I think) tiles everytime you place it.^^
(pretty sure thats not as intended but afaik its way to expensive maintenance wise to have enough of them to automate watering)
The knife slaughters animals, I have so far only used it on grown brown cows (the intended meat animals), dunno what you tried it on, maybe not fully grown animals?
You have some nice ideas, but it seems, you miss some functions, they already exist.
The sprinklers will water your fields (as galadon3 already mentioned). You can buy a small one and a big one at the gardener. Funny is, they can be easily overseen, but they are right next to the table of the gardener, where you can buy watering can and hoe.
You have to place the big one perfectly in the middle between two fields, to water all tiles of them.
Dont forget, that you can buy more than 1 watering can, so you have to run less often.
The knife is to slaughter matured animals. On immatured animals, the knife has no effect.
Use the white cow for milk (because it gives milk more often than the brown cow) and use brown cow for meat (because it gives more meat than a white cow). Goats only gives 1 meat, dont slaughter them.
When you bought the alchohol machine, you can use a trick. whiskey, wine and champagne need 2-3 days until its brewed, but when you end your day and the new morning starts (and you can move), just quit the game and restart it. You continue at exact the same time, but the alchohol machine finished its task (it doesnt matter what you brewed, everything needs just 1 day with this).
Yes, the horse is a nice refrigerator, but I found a way better method.
One of my biggest negative thoughts of the game, is and was, that when a new day start, you are in totally stress. You want to open your shop as soon as possible. A whole day has 14 realtime minutes and every minute you dont open the shop, is just wasted.
But how? When you built everything, you have so much to do, until finally open the shop.
I found a way to open the shop very early, even only with ONE employee, the cleaner.
For sure, you have to do the most in the night before, because, the night time is infinit. Especially fishing can take an eternity. I placed 80 fish traps on the special fish spots, haha (dont forget to use buoys, when you want to use fish traps too!).
The trick I want to tell is, that you have as less to do as possible, when you have to open your shop. Every product with 12+ items is your friend. The expiring date is totally unimportant.
All you have to do is, to have a box of every product in your cellar. In the night you bring all up in your shop (the expiring dates of the items in your shelves will be the same than the box you hold in your hands, when you fill them up).
Items with low quanitity per box like cake, rib eye (and other meat with 5 or 6 items per box) you pile up in the cellar, near the door, so you know that this pillar you have to take quick in the morning. Place them in the shop, open the shop, use the cable car, take only items you run low (if you manage it perfectly, this isnt even necessary and you take this items in the night).
I have around 190 reputation and max store level and I offer every possible product*. But every item between 12 and 15 is enough for a day.
(* shanks are the only product I dont offer. You dont get enough of them. Even with 14 brown cows I have not.)
When the shop is open, you have literally nothing to do. Standing in the front of the cash register (not behind!) and you can "scan" the items of your customers much faster. Have an eye on your cake, meat products, lettuce (and everything else with low quantity) and fill it up with the boxes you took from the cellar in the morning. there is no employee for cellar or cash register needed.
Remember to buy the big bag, because you can hold 5 boxes in it, when you end your day. So you can start to open the shop next day few seconds earlier.
The only one real killer of all this, are events and (way more worse) new seasons. Because, you have to check and change all prices, before open the shop. This robs so much time and its really annoying. You dont have a kind of computer where you can check and change all prices, no, you have to check every product manually.
For honey - you need a fully grown tree (any kind I believe), there is some chance for bees to spawn on it every day. You need to catch them with a net and place them in the bee hive. You can buy both at gardener.
For the jams - you need to buy jam machine (it's at the merchant close to the beach, I don't remember how he's called sorry), place it at workshop and then just follow the recipe.
Hope it helps!
