Open the settings program.
Go to the controller tab.
Switch from XInput to DirectInput.
Press the directional buttons and see if any right analogue buttons flicker at the same time.
If they do, disable them.
DO NOT SWITCH BACK TO XINPUT! EVER!!!
Hope that works.
For my official Xbox USB pad, when I was pressing the D-Pad directions the right analogue stick UP & DOWN were also flickering which was causing the player switching in game. I have disabled right analogue UP & DOWN. I still need left and right to make players run foward.
It must be a rare bug because I scoured the internet and found nothing!
With semiassisted cursor, defense is a nightmare: when running and following a player, the game suddely selects another defender.
Anyway, I'm using keyboard , so I guess the DirectInput/XInput should not count.
It has to be related to the right analogue stick (or keyboard equivalent) as that is the only way to change player besides L1.
I can only suggest trying a pad!
When I was having the issues the player cursor was literally chaning 10 times in a couple of seconds as if someone was spamming the L1 button.
