eventually, imagine battles 2 without rankings, no point in playing it

There already is one, but it's invisible. You need to intercept HTTP packets in order to see it but there is a "rank" variable associated with your account that determines who you get matched with. I have no idea why they went through the trouble to program that but couldn't be bothered to actually show it to the player.

This is standard practice for casual/unranked in any game. It's so you get placed into fair matches without having to worry about losing your rank while you experiment with different playstyles and learn
