The fact is the voice acting is pretty poor, particularly for the main character who gives one of the worst performances I've ever heard in a game. His incongruous American drawl and emotionless delivery combined with often cringey dialogue ("you can pick your nose but can't pick your family" etc) kill the game for me.
And being an Indie is no excuse - LIS handled voices well and was also made by a small French studio.
The devs could still salvage this if they replace the actor in later episodes, because I doubt a voice coach would help. If not, maybe they will have at least learned a lesson that getting the basics right - voice acting, animations, story - is more important than tacking on clever RPG systems in the name of superficial innovation.
They didn't.
Okay, well you're wrong, it's objectively horrible, and I'm not trolling. This is a genuine complaint.
I think the game has other failings but overall its not bad for a detective type game, tho i have played more complete cheaper games that offer more value for money. I felt this game was way overpriced for what little the episode offers and if they expect to sell more episodes then i suggest a longer storyline. Really this is about a 30 min game if you could skip past these cut sceens like most games offer, you'll have to sit through the same sceen just to make a different choice, and the save mechanism just slows the game down more. Its just a way to squeeze more hours into playtime going through the same motions.
Half the story is pointless diversion in my opinion, characters like George Washington and Elizabeth Adams are dead ends and im sure following anything these two offer just diverts you from you're real mission.
