I believe the real Emily is the one in front of you. During the dialog you can face an immunity (questioning, I believe) that, if used on the one in front of you, adds an immunity to Emily on the journal, while using it on the one behind adds an immunity to Emma.

Yeah, Myrkul is right. If you are not sure, just open the journal and check immunities after asking them some questions.But I think it's pretty obvious that Emma is the one who came to you last night :)

Yes, Nickolai091! The moment "Emily" appeared in my room the night before I suspected she were Emma. The way she acted towards Louis was different somehow.

Yea I'm pretty sure it's the front one. I thought it was weird how during the night Emily was supposed to be busy with Napoleon trying to convince him to change sides in the conference yet "Emily" still came and spent the night with Louis in the same night.

When you talk to "von Wöllner" he tells you that Emma survived and "Sir Gregory Holm" took care of her in his room to keep it a secret, so she tells him where he can find the book.

The real Emily in the one in front of you.The game gives many small hint to recognize Emma.
Boneparty tells the Emily visited him at night at the same night Emma visited you may recognised that she greeted very differently you.When you ask the Emily behind you(Emma) use a devil thorn it reviel immuniti and the journal show that at emma when used.And if you sleeped with her the first night she not left without a word like Emma did also asked her the last night she comment to positive where Emily was more modest in that regard.
The biggest thing that gives Emma away when she give you the gun and make you am at the real Emily.Emily put a knife at your troat when you sneaked in her room on the first day.She is not a coward put others in danger instead herself.

How Emma survived being shoot from 2-3 meter no idea.

It basically told me in my journal after I noticed different traits. One was clearly listed Emma and that was the one behind me. Which I kinda assumed anyway just by character.

Can't remember which weakness I found but recall that being how I found out along with the night spent boning me other than Bonaparte (heh) whom is my bro.

She being inmune to Manipulation (After all, she's the best at manipulate a situation, best example, in the "encounter" with the two sisters). But i actually found it when i ask the front one a questioning and her inmunity trigger.

I wonder if the journal was intended to inform who was Emma... Maybe thematically the devs didn't want that but didn't find a way to prevent it from happening mechanically or encountered tech issues while trying to omit it during that instance?
Either way, I'm playing this on PS4 in 2 saves. One thing I noticed is their reaction after the clash.

I picked the one behind Louis and she acts really cold towards her sister's death, while the Emily in the front seems to act more emotional/regretful of it and is protective of Louis afterwards!!
That was at least how I chose that Emily was the one carrying the gun.
It didn't help how extra fake Emma acted when you pick her and she pretends to shoot Louis' gun by mistake! Guess whose finger tips are in there... Bringing even more trouble towards Louis!
