I still like this game. The problems are more in the delivering of the last episode.
I really would like to see what this team could do with a larger budget.
The idea of mixing a dialog and story based game with rpg elements is great imo.
Sure it s rough around the corners, but for their first try it works very well.
If it is true what we heard until now. The thing is : this little speak of his mother was so poorly made and Mortimer doesn t act so evil at all. Of course this could be the point of all and the speak is just not written good enough for me to accept it. That or something will change today with this episode. Louis himself is still a bit of a mystery. He has demonic powers too, with his vision.
And that means his mother still hasn t told him the whole truth.
I suggest you play at least to the end of chapter 2. And I really mean this.
Yeah.... been there, done that.... When I learned ''mind reading'' I turned off the game and have very little intention to come back. It's becoming a huge mess
not sure if this might be related, but De Richet's room on "Saturn Devouring His Son", maybe Mortimer plans to take over Louis at some point.
I'm quite sure that Saturn is, metaphorically, Mortimer's father. IIRC Mortimer actually talks about the myth of Kronos (Saturn) eating his sons out of fear of them overthrowing him. Mortimer calls Kronos tyrannical and praised Zeus, who overthrew Kronos and shared the power among his godly brothers and sisters, for his wisdom. Mortimer probably sees himself in the role of Zeus, and judging from the way real history unfolded he actually must have kicked off a rebellion against his father, using Napoleon to conquer Europe and spreading the idea of civil rights wherever he went.
It s kind of funny, but not what i have expected at all. The story just wants to much, maybe they should have stayed with the political rankings. It s too confusing now imo.
Louis is just not emotional enough for this things. I mean first his mother, later his father and now he is a demon himself. There are just too many plotpoints without enough depth.
Still, it s a working crossover between rpg mechanics and Dialogs. I hope it sells good enough to lead to a second game with a deeper plot in the future.
