How do you use items in your inventory?

Hey, I have a quick question:

How do you use items you have in your inventory? Like opening letters and reading books etc? I can't find any key for it. Can they only be used out in the world or in conversations?

You dont. (at least not in this episode)

The books can be 'selected' after you have progressed a bit into the episode. Game tells you when.

The books are things you read. You get one per chapter or more after unlocking talents.

The other items will allow you to use them at the right time.

I know this topic is a bit old but I have an issue trying to use Royal Jelly,
When I hover over it it says press to use but when I do so either using the NumPad or the numbers on top of the keybord nothing happens.

Is it a bug maybe because I use a french keyboard on an english language system or is it a case of needing to wait a specific time before I can use them ?

I've already sued all my effort points so I would really need to be able to gain back some.

I play with controller, but try holding down on the number button for a few seconds. With a controller, if I wanted to use Royal Jelly, I need to press and hold for about one second and the consumable gets used.

Like I said, I'm not sure about keyboard, but I would think it's the same principle, using the numbers on your keyboard (not the num pad).

Thank you I figured it out, you need to press the number outside your inventory, I was expecting to be able to use the items from my inventory that's why it wasn't working :)
