Is someone able to explain what the correct answer is ? I tried it a few times with no luck

‘Nightmare’ is literal. It's a painting behind the desk in Lord Mortimer's study on third floor. And about von Wöllner, he works for Sir Gregory, or at least he admitted this when I guess Sir Gregory is the one behind him.

HEAVY SPOILER, DO NOT READ IF YOU WANT TO SOLVE YOURSELF:
In the bible the nightmare thing is Apostels, 3rd Choice. At the lock behind the "painting nightmare" the code is 1191 - you find out after looking at a painting where it says 5190 in a weird calender which comes to 1191.

It was funny, when you take "allegory" it says : you didn't understand mother's notice..., After speaking in riddles an metaphors during all of the Bible Riddle "the nightmare" is literal... Whoever figured that out... Chapeau !!
Yeah exactly, that is what I did at first but it gave me a fail.
