General Feedback
I put roughly 3 hours into the demo. Here are my general thoughts:
* A generally appealing concept with interesting visual character designs.
* Multi-character gimmick is fundamentally flawed: IE Benefits of having multiple doesn't outweigh the difficulty of keeping them safe enough to avoid extra damage, roster fills quickly, most options to remove roster is implied slavery/murder/betrayal, more characters dilutes the distribution of poison/freeze/lightning upgrades, characters taken to Endless are gaurenteed to die.
* Quests are bugged? Across 3 hours of play and about 5-6 sessions of opening and closing the game, I've only seen 1 pyromancer and 2 archers. It's like the quest to unlock them only applied until I closed the game. Then while the quest stayed marked as complete, the characters never appeared again as recruitables or in cages.
* Bunnies are cool (but I only saw two of them appear in my *entire* time playing the demo and they never started appearing again.)
* Most of the purchasable upgrades feel ineffective except for additional projectiles.
* Endless feels designed primarily to throw away characters rather than as an actual scaling challenge. Around 7-8 minute mark with the half-unlocked upgrade tree feels impossible.
* Weird hitboxes. Collision with trees and rocks seems relative to the base of the object, but collision with bosses often feels like it includes the *entirety* of their body, or occasionally even larger than their body (taking damage from invisible collision with the transparent corner of the enemy sprite).
* Visual variation between levels seems low.
* Gamepad HUD Navigation is unclear (characters added to stage roster but not showing as selected, not being able to get to the bottom section to unselect them, upgraded-weapon modal stays visible after closing the character level-up menu, generally just harder to navigate the menus than it would have been with a stick-controlled virtual cursor.
* Questionable gamepad movement implementation: Up/Right/Down/Left movement seems to be based on binary on-off state, and there's no adjustment for a reduced tilt, or the specific angle of movement held. Additional sticks cannot be used for moving (VSurv) nor aiming (20Min).
* Resource gathering/grinding feels unconsidered (There's no evident way to play at higher speed or with increased spawn rates, so any amount of attempts to regain resources depends on repeating levels that can be reliably cleared -- There's not a lot of reason to risk losing high level recruits to only be left with incoming recruits being significantly lower leveled. And similarly since Endless gaurentees the entering characters will be lost, it is effectively a slower version of the "Sale/betray/murder" option with a score attack element attached.)
