AI-Mod
Over the course of the last night I made a mod, which according to my test, tremendously improves the performance of the AI, especially when it comes to the lategame.

For the download-link, installation hints and description of what exactly it does and how look here:

I also started a Let's Play series in order to showcase the mod:

Im trying this mod out and it seems to give some improvements.
I notice the AI is making alot more tier 2 improvements in its cities than it used to.
Also once they have tier 2 of a weapon they never use tier 1 ever again.
Same seems to go for armor too.

overall its a definite improvment over the basic AI and i encourage anyone who is sick of how badly the AI is at the later stages of the game to try it out.

Thank you for promoting my Mod! :)
It's nice to hear that it makes the game more interesting for you!

Made a small update to the mod. It's not changing much and probably is barely noticeable as a player. I only noticed a few little things while observing. (Some buildings that I think sould be build but weren't in all cases)

I've edited the post I had linked in the first post, so the new file is there to download now.

Not to be sarcastic, but your mod probably does more for the game than the new expansion. Think I'll wait a bit until we get some feedback. Diplomacy - meh?

The spy system is really fun, keep in mind the price of the dlc, steiner, it's like 6 bucks, lol

though i just got done stealing 16000 science in one turn... i have to say its way rng heavy and kinda silly, but it's fun! lol

I've been talking to one of the Devs.
They plan to continue working on the expansion after it's release. AI improvements is one of the things they are looking to implement.
A thing that was mentioned in particular was adopting a system were the amount of already present buildings in a city influences where to build military-units.
This should do a similar thing to what the mod does: Ensuring not wasting ressources on crap-units in underdeveloped cities.
Also AI-Tax-management was mentioned and I believe this alone will drastically boost their capacities as buying becomes a major part of your total output later in the game and having roughly twice the credits than before (right now AI always runs 50% tax) will mean a huge boost.

Hi Ail, I have used your mod for a bit now and its fantastic. I havent been able to get the game to launch since the update and only have the A.I. mod installed. I went to the thread and saw you post a update for the new E.O.N. and installed that but it still crashes, any help?

Basically I launch the game, the launcher opens fine. I hit play pandora and the game gets a runtime error and crashes. I am on windows 7 use a i5 3570k with a 7850 AMD GPU.

Can u post a screenshot of that runtime error somewhere?
Have you removed all the files from the old mod? It caused a crash with the files from the "Features" folder because it doesn't know the water-improvements.

Sorry for my late reply and thank you for the help. http://gyazo.com/4b26d679b2802360c2a520f07e820651 here should be a screenshot of what I get as an error. You mentioned removing all the files from the old mod, I believe that might be the problem. I installed this from a zip posted on the forum. To uninstall I reopened the original zip and deleted any file I saw in the folder. I am sure this is the problem, can you give me any better ways to uninstall the old mod?
Thanks again for all your help.

The error-message definately is different from the one I got when ... wait. You said you got the Add-on, right?
But in the background there is the old launcher. The new launcher is green and has "Eclipse of Nashira" written on it. Yours is still the old blue "First Contact" one.

So your problem might be unrelated to the Mod and instead be some installation issue.

To make sure go to your:
C:\Users\Swift\AppData\Roaming\Proxy Studios\Pandora\Data
folder and delete everything that's still in it.

Otherwise I'd suggest to do a complete reinstall of the game.

It really should show a green background in the launcher when you have Eclipse of Nashira.

I deleted and reinstalled the game and it works now, thanks for all your help!

How do I know the mod is working? I hope we eventually get a mod manager or somesuch!
Ail Dec 20, 2015 @ 4:10pm
Erm... this mod is pretty much useless since at least February 2015 when the first of my patches came out.

If you are on the Beta-Branch where you have 1.6.4 you will have something way better than what this mod accomplished. If you are courageous and have windows but not Windows-XP you can also use my semi-inofficial patches.

Unless you don't have Eclipse of Nashira that is. What the mod did was making sure the AI builds higher tier units once they have researched them.

But if you really want to see what a decent 4x-AI looks like get the update!
