quit game, open steam, press games (top) then view games library, then right click rise of nations, properties and select the beta tab, then select v1.10.
When both do that, you both will be in the old version of steam.
Tho it doesnt work for people on xbox ofc
it is good to have steam off even from systray in between, just to make sure.
1. Have you tried updating your graphicscard driver?
2. Reinstall the visual basics files which come with the game:
default location inside 2012 and 2015 folder of:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of Nations\_CommonRedist\vcredist
x64 and x86 depends on your Windows installation (eg. 64-bit or not)
3. Make sure your virusscanner and/or windows firewall aint blocking the game
4. Have you tried lowering the setting of your graphics to say 1024x768?
you can change that inside the rise2.ini file, right click open with notepad
default:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Games\Rise of Nations
5. same rise2.ini file you can turn off the intro
SkipIntroMovies=1
6. press windows + e, then right click computer/this pc, select properties
advanced systems settings, click the box settings, then select "data execution prevention" tab
select turn on DEP .. except and browse to riseofnations.exe in steam folder:
default:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of Nations\riseofnations.exe
IF it doesnt work, set back the option to the default you had.
Hope it does any good...
If so please say which step helped... or leave a comment and we try further.
7. Well guess it doesnt make a difference, but can you try to set riseofnations.exe (and patriots.exe) with admin rights?
Default install path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of Nations
right click both files, properties and you can select the tickbox "run this program as an administrator".
8. If that doesnt help, maybe try to set it to compatibility mode for windows xp sp3 orso.
Guess that would not do the trick, but cant think of something else at the moment.
Sorry to hear so.
At the moment i have no idea why it aint working.
If you have an old computer around, try it on that machine. I am pretty sure, it has something to do with the stuff already installed, but that sounds easier then it is... and it aint much help.
