Ight lemme spelll this out for yall..... there's two gamestyles that constitute a "Nuke race"
The first case is rare to be played in this day and age, the second one is more common. This I have to assume was the (basic but maybe not congruent) style you played.
If you play a more "Standard" match (or even Nomad), and maybe more especially with more experienced players.... games really kinda only last till age V.....
1v1s won't go past age V (unless people are too scared or if both sides messed up bad during the game). Even Team games will decide a winner when a player dies out.
Boom games are the problem if you don't like Nuke Races. Learn to attack earlier with a sufficent eco (in 1v1 games.... you can win with +100 - +150 eco)

P.S: Never make a nuke in the Modern Age (you can research, but don't actually use one). They are ineffective and their benefits don't outweigh the costs. Wait till ICBM if you REALLY need to nuke......
Truth..... or one person was a ♥♥♥♥ in a Diplo or Team game.
Both are scrub as ♥♥♥♥, though
