Rise of Nations: Extended Edition

Rise of Nations: Extended Edition

No sound in the game
Hello chaps

I just wanted to start this forum to bring this issue up and see if anyone else is having them. the intro cutscenes all work fine but as soon as I get into the game itself, there seems to be no sound. I've tried skimishes, campaigns, and fiddled with the audio settings but nothing seems to work.

Is anyone else getting these issues?

FIXED: Switch GX off from the Sonar DG Audio Centre.

Cheers

Try adding -sw3Dsound in the goal(i dont know the right word for it in english but it is in the shortcut in the desktop) and put on windows xp service pack 3 compability. this at least fixed the sound issues with the old version.
I'm sorry to say, the latest patch hasn't changed anything for me. Alt-tabbing was never an issue in my case, the game simply has no sound, full stop, except for the intro cinematics.
Hello chaps. This is addressing Skybox Labs. I don't want to sound like I'm fussing or anything but I need you to be aware that as of version 1.3, the sound in my game is still not working.

Thank you.

My good chap, I can't thank you enough! I have no idea what GX is or what it does but switching it off appears to have done the trick! Once again, thank you.

yes, the gx option did the problem.

I had the same problem with RoN and my Asus Xonar DGX.
Killing the HsMgr.exe prozess and restarting the game worked for me fine.

This doesn't fix it but its better than no sound. Go to (Drive you installed steam [e.g. C]\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of Nations\sounds\tracks

1. Select all the sound tracks
2. Right click
3. Add to windows media playlist
4. Then save it
5. Now start the playlist whenever you play the game and put it on repeat to start all over again when the tracks are done.

If you have audio but the songs appear and reappear then

1. Do all the above but set Music volume in Audio Settings (in the game) all the way to the left (AKA 0)

Now you can enjoy the game with the Rise of Nations sound track that you love.

Hope this helps =)

I'm glad I found this thread. The GX button just fixed my no-audio problem too. I also have a Xonar DG. Thanks, people of the past! :)

I just installed the k-lite mega codec pack and it fixed the sound right up, in case nothing else helps you guys :P https://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm

it also has the side effect of letting you play any media file you can imagine in windows media player :P

I've just tried to run RoN for the first time in a while, and noticed that the sound isn't working. I've been through all the steam threads for no sound in RoN, similar to others, the intro sequences have sound, but nothing from the menu onwards.

I don't have a sound card, just using onboard sound. Have tried adjusting all settings, have tried installing the k-lite mega codec pack, all to no avail. Are there specific setting srequried for k-lite? Running Windows 10, PLEASE HELP!!
