This is my favorite game of it's genre of all times, when i was younger i've had 14 hour long games (edit - game sessions ) on it, and i remember how i used to conquer 70 % of the map, and most of the minimap covered in my color. All the units, wonders, buildings, res, maps, nations, everything about this game is amazing.

I just can't wait to play it again, already pre-purchased it.

So what are your top 3 or 5 favorite games of this genre? Mine are as it follows :

Have not played, but would like to one day: Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 1 and 2 (with all Expansions for both), Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, Empire Earth III, Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 1 (with all Expansions). Most likely more, of course.

In my opinion, Company of Heroes would probably not count as a strategy game (more like a real time squad tactics with lite base building elements game), Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 2 (same type of game as Company of heroes, as I have seen), Total War series (more like real time tactics with lite to medium empire building/grand strategy game, especially if you would count Paradox's grand strategy games), Paradox's strategy games (because OP mentions he/she would not count Paradox's strategy games (I would not as well)), not sure whether to include Civilisation series (on second thought, maybe not, due to being a turn base strategy game). Most likley more, of course.

Rise of Nations, Warcraft 3 and Star Trek Armada 2 were the games I loved the most. With RoN being re-released, I am secretly hoping for Star Trek Armada 2.

My favorite RTS of all time is either Rise of Nations or C&C: Generals. Way too hard to choose one over the other. I did play C&C: Red Alert quite a bit as well.

In no particular order - aside from RoN

1. Warhammer 40k DoW series (DoW 2 was okay, but not a true RTS)
2. SupCom 1/2
3. C&C Red Alert / Tiberium series
4. Age of Empires 2/3
5. Dark Reign (don't ask my why, I just like it)

I could list many more, and most of them are listed above. Sad that most of them are "oldies" now, except for a very select handful, such as Starcraft 2. I don't see many being made these days. I need to try Europa Universalis IV, but I think I need a Doctorate to start that one.

Because Reboot was a terrrible f2p monster, that asked to kill him. I played on beta, and it was terrible. They killed everything! Even graphik, even if the game was on frostbyte, style was soo terrible.
I prayed to kill that monster, and thanks gods its happened!!

It was that bad? Well, that sucks. It seems few developers know how to make a classic rts nowdays. :P
