Have the limitations of the original been expanded?
I have a query regarding two acute limitations that kept on bugging me whilst playing the original back in the day. Firstly, the population limit in the stock game is pretty low, it does not allow you to have great armies. Of course, it is possible to mod the game to increase the limit, but hopefully it has been changed in this game that there would not be a need to do the mod yourself. Now the more important limitation that is really irritating, is the 999 commerce cap. When you're fighting a really big war, you tend to run out of metal and oil pretty quick, but there's nothing you can do to increase production if you have reached the limits. It also kinda takes away the joy of taking other peoples' lands, as you just have no use from the resources they have, if you have reached the cap. So most importantly, will the cap be raised or made unlimited past a certain point?

Hmm, if one side has enough board control to max out every resource at 999, that sorta means the match is going to end very, very soon. =)

Unless the opponents have Artificial intelligence, allowing any side to create armies quickly. Then, resource control and availability becomes crucial. I've had scenarios when I am about to finish off an opponent, but due to the lack of resources, my forces were stretching thin, I needed more resources quick and unfortunately the newly-captured areas were of no use for resources, as I have reached the cap at that time!

I like the limit, it's there for a reason. ;)

There's a limit in real life too? Well atleast i learnt something. Next time a war is going on i better tell each side to only limit their production to 1 ton of steel a day so the armies don't become OP

Such limitations have been attempted, although their enforcement has never really been followed through

RoN is a game so it is defined by it's rules. Even if they seem arbitrary to you, the rules have been well thought out to make the game play in a certain way.

Considering that the act of war requires a violation of peace through blood shed, it is funny how people think they can regulate war...lol That being said, I do think that it is way to easy to max out resource production. I've always thought it should be harder to do so.

Then that's a shame, because in some other strategies it is possible to use resources from the occupied lands to grow your economy. Thus there is an incentive to take cities and use them as they are intended, rather than just taking them away to simply destroy your enemy....

There's usually a clear winner long before you hit the cap. It sounds like you are unnecessarily prolonging games by focusing on your economy.

I do that in multiplayer games when I'm playing with friends. We like to build massive armies and then just use our tanks, but unfortunately we run out of resources eventually and our progress stalls.

There is also a limit to the number of alliances you can form per player (one) really gets in the way of anything other than the most basic diplomacy.

All of this can get scripted, last I checked... this is coming from the scenario folks. :)

About the 11th-ish, it seems.

I still won't give up though :) Never lose hope and be diligent.
