Rise of Nations: Extended Edition

Rise of Nations: Extended Edition

Upcoming Patch Notes
Hi all,

Let me preface these notes by saying they should have been posted before the weekend, but I got a little caught up in the holiday celebrations and forgot! My sincerest apologies.

On to the good stuff!

"Since we will not be able to get a patch out this week, before the 4th of July holiday, we wanted to show the community that we are still working on Rise of Nations: Extended Edition. Here is early access to the upcoming patch notes.

Increased Twitch Integration Stability

  • We've received reports of users continuing to run into issues with Twitch integration. After reviewing your feedback, we've implemented some stability fixes which should increase the overall performance of this functionality.

Additional Lobby Improvements

  • Previously, on the lobby screen, you were only able to see how many people are in a particular lobby, but not who is in that lobby. Users can now hover over a lobby and a pop-up will appear with a list of players currently in it.

Lobby Chat System

  • We've been monitoring your feedback closely and have been working on improving the lobby chat system. Here's a sneak peek at what we've been developing: http://1drv.ms/1tgxviB

Lobby Area Suggestions

  • You may have noticed the empty area to the right of the list of players in the lobby. We're thinking about adding some information and statistics (ELO scores, games played, etc) on other people in the lobby if you clicked on their name.
  • If you have a suggestion as to what kind of information could be displayed in that area, please let us know in the comments!

BGRA Support Issue

  • Early versions of DirectX 10 deprecated the use of BGRA (making hardware support optional) despite it being supported in previous versions of DirectX.
  • Although later versions of DirectX (DirectX 11, for instance) reintroduced the support, it appears that some DirectX 10 cards do not currently have support implemented in hardware for BGRA texture creation (resulting in a "Could not create texture" error). We have a fix in the works that should properly correct for this issue and allow those players to properly play the game.

Misc Support and Bug Fixes

  • Fixes for a few additional issues.

As always you guys are doing great! I have to hand that to you all for not giving up. Nice to see something exactly like the old lobby system. My suggestion for information displayed would just be Games Played, ELO, Wins and Loses.

Thank you so much for listening to us costumers. It seems that Microsoft is finally starting to care about their costumers after all. And thanks for all you devs that seem to care about your product, This is rare nowadays.

Just a suggestion: a win-loss record would be nice too, so we can track "more or less" how skilled a player is and we can Split those players that are less skilled (put them in different teams) so we can make fair games. fair games = fun games. I know we already have elo, but a win-loss record would be nice too, and this ratio could be displayed outside ranked matches as well..

I would recommend having friends/ignore list there, like the old lobby.

What additional and better thing you people could do is when someone does "Right click" on the name of players online, it can show an option for, Chat, Add friend, Ignore, Invite to game & Stats.

Stats can be opened in new small window/dialogue box. That would make it real cool.
Beszedits 7/jul./2014 às 13:31
wait, the GameSpy ignore list was restricted to chat. You should also add a 'pest list', like the one we got on AOE3, which also prevent those people from joining your games. But making sure that the pest list would be limited to 50 people or less, so that would prevent people from pesting everyone.

^^I agree pest list is very important to keep trolls away from game. I've been having this problem alot and I'm sure many other people too must be facing this.

Skybox, I wanna ask something else. Do u think there is a way to implement private messaging? We had that before as well, I miss it. What we didn't have, and I'd love if u guys provided , is the possibility of sending a message to someone that is already playing. I know that we can already do this via the Steam chat box. But would be nice if we could make that inside the game. I mean, it's not an urgent and extremely necessary feature, but it never hurts to ask :);

lol yes. the game will be so much more fun with lobby chat. Is mind blowing how such a simple feature make a huge positive impact on the whole multiplayer experience.
I made good friends in ROn back in 2004/2005. Unfortunately, i lost contact with most of them after a while. Nevertheless, what's important is that it's coming back.

Now we need:
- friend list
- a list of games that already started (this is extremely important as it makes people feel 'less alone'. Because RTS matches can take so long, there's Always only 5 or 6 games being hosted each minute, which can give us a false impression that the game is empty.

As previous guys refered we need a wins -loses record .Elo is not enough.
