Egyptians
Is it just me or are the Egyptians massively overpowered compared to other nations. More Farms per city means more food means more workers early on. And the wonders: cheaper, earlier and more per city means you can spam the map with wonders which gives you great bonuses.

What other nation would you recommend as comparable in strength?

France, America, Germany, etc.

All nations are pretty equal on standard.
Some have some more advantages on certain map (types).

The biggest difference between nations comes with your playing style. The one style suits you and the other doesnt.

My fav is Germany for their Economic bonuses and their OP early age swordsmen that I just spam and trample over cities in minutes

Same having such an industrial might helps a lot manufacturing a war machine that can steamroll your enemy

In terms of booming, I always enjoyed Inca. Creating those scholars early due to the wealth bonus is quite effective at getting through the ages. However, Germany and France are more versatile, they can do more stuff.

But don't take my word for it too seriously, I am an Aztec a-sshole.

British and Dutch are really good too. You can actually harras the sh*t out of your enemy with those armed merchants and caravans early on.

The British have a higher commerce level that lasts through the entire game until you get to the futuristic techs in the information age.

China is an interesting nation too. Ramping up science tech and creating civilians instantly allows you to boom your economy quite fast. And the large cities allow you to have a safe early game.

Which nations suck?

I think they all have very specific situations where they work. However there are some that are good in most situations (like France or Germany).

There are however some situations where some nations don't work too well.
For example:
- playing as Spanish in a game where you can advance in technology really fast. After hitting Industrial Age, Spain isn't that good anymore. They are good for example if you want to get ruin bonuses really fast with your 2 scouts. Or if you want a naval presence with their free heavy ships. I find them however on the weaker side.
- Lakota is a great nation. One of my favourites, but as a begginer it's really hard to use them properly and managing that food.
- Aztecs: I love them, but if you can't be aggressive, they are useless compared with other nations. I don't like them on water maps for this reason.
- Koreans and Maya. They are defensive anti-rush nations. However, that's about it. I don't feel like they can do more than that. They can survive a rush, but their economy is not the greatest.
- Indians: they are really interesting, but I think they aren't as great as other economy based nations.

All nations work however. Find a few that you enjoy and learn to play with them. Then get to know yourself and what kind of playstyle you enjoy. I am personally quite an aggressive player and for that reason I like Aztecs, Mongols, Spanish, Romans.

Well, thank you. Besides nations: map size, map type, number of opponents, game mode and so on, which settings are super fun to play?

Standard is a good place to start.
It all depends on you however, experiment with them all in the Quick Battle.

Once you get used to the game play, you can change everything around in the custom settings.

well it depends on play style. for my style i like a slow game and as for the russians with HUGE atrition bonus with the coloseum which boosts atrition and if you grab colossus and the statue of liberty your very OP. the Egyptions are mainly for a wonder rush and if you rush for highest age then build wonders at the same time your OP. the nation i suggest to avoid is the nubians. all they have are early age unique units and trade which the dutch are far better for the late game.
