hahaha i know that feeling lol. Wish there was a way to just save manually but... well.
First of all, manual saving is a simpler baseline to implement.
Secondly, they did implement it — since it's a baseline — but disabled it for design purposes.
You can notice arbitrary saving triggered on the Sundown level by a conditional timer.
They just don't expose UI control for it. It should be easy enough to mod.
Had to listen to the whole megatrain of Goebells counterpropaganda at the beginning of the Bandits level so many times for various reasons…
