- I didn't have a shotgun so the one found next to a body in the arena helped a lot, it's also by far the best weapon to get the beast off your back so if you're without a shotgun pick it up asap!
- I only had 3 medkits but one body has two on it and that's a huge help if the nosalises attack you too (maybe they only attack if you start shooting at them but for me it always happened before dealing the last hit to the bear).
- You can save the bear at the end. Don't know if it matters (maybe for getting the good ending it does).
Anyway I was a bit let down because I did not get the good ending at the end, I thought you only had to find a lot of hidden stuff and let Pavel and Lesnitsky live while the Dark One is with you but seems like stealth kills also count in you being bad. Well, at least knocking people out has a purpose now. Damn, I even found Lenin, that should mean that I was a good Russian. :D
Saving everyone you can, killing as few as you can (you can literally go the whole game without killing anyone except for the last level), and exploring the world as is canon to Artyom's character and you will get the good ending.
2. Get a Kalash and a Saiga with extended mags, shoot the bear with the Kalash and military ammo until the watcher come and attack the bear. Take Saiga, go to his back and shoot his weak point (glowing red).
3. Repeat step 2 three times
4. ...
5. Profit

1. At first entering into the pit, let her run you down, the event is scripted and cannot be avoided, don't waste resources.
2. You get up on your feet after stabbing her in the head, use a claymore mine to get her disorientated. Walk around her and shoot her back. Use grenades, aiming below her feet.
3. If you have fire grenades, use them if the nosalises jump at her back.
Repeat and you'll be done within minutes. I did this recently on Ranger Hardcore Survival. It took me maybe less than four minutes.
Remember to loot stuff before the boss fight, you should find at least three antipersonnel mines and many grenades, if you checked the whole map.
If you can afford it, don't be afraid of using military grade ammo. Just make sure that you stand close enough to your target so every shot counts. This is in my opinion the only place where you would even consider using MGR's.
A few tips in how to avoid getting run down by nosailises.
- Stay close to the boss when she's damaged. Nosalises will come for her so you don't want to be between them and the boss.
- If you keep damaging her, the nosalises will be too busy to attack you
- Utilize fire grenades to deal with nosalises and the occasional grenade if you can spare them
- If you don't have a rifle, there's a bas-tard(censorship, seriously Gabe?!) on the ground about middle section close to the exit, pick it up and use it against nosalises in bursts(helps keeping it from overheating)
The boss fights are some of the easiest parts of the game. For the seond boss you don´t actually need to shoot him, for killing him. Maybe just 1 or 2 bullets. So don´t make the game responsible for your inability.
We're talking about the third bossfight here, the one against the bear. You need to count to 3 to get to that one.
Let's stop measuring our gamer penises for a second and also stop pretending that Metro is a hard game: it's not, sure, it rewards you if you are methodical but that only means that if you're not absolutely dumb and stupid you will beat this game, no matter the difficulty. In an environment like this it's quite a huge design flaw if one of your bossifghts can be easy or rock hard depending on the player's choice of weapon. I don't like the 3 weapon limit here because I love to try out everything in the arsenal so this part bit me in the ass simply because I wasn't prepared for fighting the damn thing thing so I had to run around the level to pick up the necessary weapons. This is what made it hard for me and of course the fact that you can always find ammo for the shotgun and the assault rifle but if you happen to choose a sniper rifle because I dunno, you're bored of the 2 effective weapon types you will run out of ammo pretty quickly even if you one shot - on kill every baddie. To put it simply the bossfight punishes experimentation which is sad because that's exactly my playstyle.
Now does this mean that I hate the game because of these issues? Hell no, it was awesome!
There´s a guide to win the third boss-fight:

You have my answer, deal with it.
