How do you beat demons?

The swamps level on the surface would be super easy if it wasn't for that one demon. They can teleport through walls so even if you have cover they can still do the pick up attack and throw you back to the start of the level, and they are seemingly invincible (given that they can survive a full mag of my kalash 2012 and about 6 point blank duplet shots on ranger hardcore).

Use the Valve from the deer stand.

A fully pumped helsing or a spike grenade on a non hostile/suspecting demon. If they are suspecting and you're known, it will take a few extra.

Unless the script changed with Redux, you need not even beat him yourself. There is an A-frame of concrete blocks for example that you can hide under (or on top of to get away from shrimp).
Eventually the script takes care of the demon.

I never bothered fight that demon in the swamp. Put out claymores close to the ferry when you get there the first time, but not to close so they go off at same time. Dont stay at same area for a long time. Keep moving and have an eye for the demon.
He fight the big boss for you and make the area clear to take the ferry. Just get around and search for stuff and keeep an eye up for it. You have to go back and restart the engine one more time, then get away and hide for demon and schrimps...
I used just a litttle bit of ammo at the swamp. Most claymores. Some shottys at schrimps, if i got surprised by one...
