Anyone else not a fan of the book Metro 2034?

I am estatic for the game but as far as reading goes I detest the book Metro 2034 which is being skipped by the game devs.

I was actually thinking the opposite. It is certainly a blend of 2033 and 2034, but I liked that it has much more mature themes. I also liked that it takes place like a year after the events of LL.

Oops I put the wrong number! Meant to say 2034. Just checked the cover of my book again. I didn't like how it seemed to continue the story (The book 2033 is very final) with a whole new cast of characters after the events of the first. I did not finish 2034 to be fair.

I'm no fan. The original book Metro 2033 is an excellent book however. Better than the game. Not that Metro 2033 was a bad game of course not but the book really is that much better. Last Light was a better game then book on the flipside though but that may be because Last Light wasn't based on a book with the book instead being based on the game. If you read 2033 you would see why Last Light is sort of an odd sequal. As a game Last Light makes perfect sense as a sequal for the 2033 game though. 2034 and maybe 2035 have nothing to do with Artyom though and 2034 struggles to find a worthwhile story to tell. I have not read 2035 though and I have no idea if it has Artyom or the characters of 2034.

Well i guess i'll go for the metro 2033 book so far.
Gotta say though the game Last Light, which im at right now, seems to be more complete. Lets say the storyline there seems to be on one piece. Whilst 2033 let me some questions open, that's too why im curious for the book.
I'd have to go back to the 2033 game to explain exactly what i mean with "open questions".
But to me it just seemed like there was much air between the chapters.

The book has more characters, emotion, horror and philosophy. I guess that's pretty typical for Russian literature though in my experience. The only bad thing is this one chapter late in the book where Artyom is captured by a cult.

I have read all of the mainline books + over 10 Metro universe novels and I agree that 2034 has to be the weakest of all. It doesn't seem to know what it wants to be, there are inconsistencies and logical errors between that and the rest of the series, the storyline overall was boring for me.

There is only one Universe book that I liked less, but at least it made sense (Promised District)

The Metro universe are in general novels set in the universe in different places. AFAIK there are over 70 of them, but most of them aren't available widely around the world (only about 15 in Poland, I can imagine even less if any in other countries like England or US.)

Well damn. I've basically read them as they were translated for English. I assumed they were made in Russia years before an English translation. Didn't the original author stop writing them?

I don't know what you're referring to, but the mainline story is finished yes, but the Universe novels are written by different authors and don't seem to stop coming.

Bit of a shame, really, a few of them are even better than the mainline.
