there are is 2 sections devoted to them, and one dlc mission where you only fight them. They are weak to light and can be killled by it, so keep your flashlight charged at all time and look for torches, and power generators. They look like a combination of a spider and a scorpion so yes they are terryifying, as well as they are immune to bullets unless you use light to filp them over and reveal their underside, which you can then easily kill them.

There are also normal spiders throught the game. Tarantula sized in the metro. If you have a severe phobia of spiders it might be worth skipping this one.

they are super easy for me (always play on ranger hardcore), i just fire them with my lightning to the death, didnt met more than a three, it was easy to press them angainst the wall in a small subway technical room.

Believe me, this game has a way uglier creatures than spiders. I hate those f*cking swamp monsters with armor of a tank.

They appear in 3 areas. One in main campaign, 2nd a dlc mission, 3rd in museum dlc area.

Just keep your lights 'on' and on full battery or use the lighter.
