(SPOILER REGARDING THE BOOK) Artyom in metro 2034?

So i just finished the book...from what i understand he just gets shot in the chest and dyies at the end of the book?
Some people say it was another Artyom but in the book the caracter is treated like we should already know him?
Can someone clarify?
(i know this is unrelated to the game but i do know the based the game off the book so i was hoping someone would know what im talking about)

in 2034 the story as i recall revolves around Hunter, and he gets a companion named Artyom who is NOT RElATED TO OUR ARTYOM AT ALL

he doesent get a companion
There is an Artyom character stuck in the infected station as a radioman that gets shoot(or drowns) at the end of the book

Artyom is once again the protagonist in Metro 2035 and it is revealed that he was not living in the Tulskaja during the events of 2034, so it's 100% a different Artyom. At the point of writing Metro 2034, Dmitry Glukhovsky might not have been thinking about Metro 2035 and wanted to show what happened to Artyom.
Afaik Metro 2035 happened due to Last Light, where Dmitry took inspiration from. LL was released after Metro 2034 though :P
