Tried but can't find any match, the store now says PvP Lan and the Online tag is missing...

No, they won't.
This game is a cash grab published not by the original developers because they went bankrupt decades ago.

Now this game is in the new owner who wants to milk it to feed their NFT game ambition.

Look for a community-made port instead, RVGL.

RVGL genuinely better than this version since it has been improved over the years. Has multiplayer feature and an active community hosting multiplayer games regularly.

Hey RVGL still needs the original re-volt game files right? Can this Steam release be used for that or perhaps there's something I missed?

Search for "RVGL Discord" for Online Sessions, RVGL is community-made port version of Re-Volt. Or use "Radmin VPN" to play with friends.
