Re-Volt

PLEASE add analog acceleration for analog triggers
I was SO excited to see this re issue, and that it works in native 2560x1600.
It's also a much smoother FPS than dreamcast or N64

But default controller config of accelerator on stick UP is Amiga days, and believe me not many people liked it even back then when we didn't have an option as the Amiga had a one button controller - but even the Dreamcast version had perfect analog acceleration on the Dreamcast controller's right trigger. I just tried it now again in Flycast and it's perfect (and yes I still own a Dreamcast and the original Re-Volt game, actually I own it twice, both PAL and US NTSC versions, before anyone says anything, but I prefer to avoid having to haul out the old TV for the console and playing it emulated and upscaled to 1440P).

I can SET acceleration to the right trigger in this Steam version, but if I do that it becomes 100% digital, so I have to depress the analog trigger 100% to get movement and there is no control of acceleration strength.

Yet, the default controls with the analog stick pushing UP to accelerate, ARE Analog, So the code for analog speed is already there.

Oh, I tried with an SN30 PRO 2 in X -Input mode, and an actual Xbox one controller to no avail.

Honestly, because of this, the Dreamcast version is still the king overall, and I immediately went back to that over this one, even though it runs in 4:3 and struggles to maintain 30 FPS.

I'll wait to hear from the dev or if anyone knows a way to get it working.. If this will be fixed, I will keep it with bells on and a huge smile from ear to ear, if not, I will sadly have to return it as I find digital control on an RC game kind of pointless. The steering is analog, just tell the trigger to read the same inputs as what analog up would read, they are very similar anyway and should translate.

Cheers

sorry what mod?

Wow I have been looking into it.. so complex for something where the code is already there.. the dev just has to set flags for the triggers to read analog data.. it's an overnight, well, more like 30 minute fix. I am not going to go to all this trouble of installing third party BS when the game is fine, I just want analog acceleration as it should be.
If the dev doesn't want to do it, I am fine with it, I get my $8.50 AUD back.

It would also be nice if you included a link to which specific patch or mod you were talking about just for this one change.

Sorry was talking about RVGL, wasn't sure of the name.

It's a 1 minute install on windows

And for the steam deck, Luxtoroeda will do all the work.

Ahh ok, RVGL.. no need to apologise, but thanks for confirming for me.
I don't have a Steam deck as it's not available in Australia whatsoever. I hope they don't make such a poor decision with version 2.

I ended up returning it.. simply cause I couldn't find anything about RVGL actually supporting analog trigger acceleration or an option to fix that from the base game.

I might try again in future, for now I went back to the dreamcast version upscaled to 4K.

Cheers
