Both me and a friend thinks the original camera is too close, and the follow camera just makes me disoriented (but not sick), what we do is just lean in while loading and then lean back when in the game, or do the same and reset while leaning in. Sure things become a lot smaller and you will have to lean in to see your vehicle behind obstacles in some levels, but it makes for a much more comfortable experience.
The second thing with that is of course... it's super tactical to be able to see the entire level, and personally this feels like the way the game should be played. It becomes a much more comfortable experience and relies more on driving skills than memorizing the levels. The shortcuts are possible to spot in advance, but my friend (who I just gifted the game) missed the shortcuts anyway so you still have to be aware of them :)
So yeah, brilliant mode, me I could run it in direct mode, no issues except a bit of frame-rate drop in some levels, even on a GTX970, but most of the time it runs super nicely. My friend who does have a 780ti got judder constantly in direct mode but he ran it fine in extended instead, which is something I have issues with playing other titles... Oculus SDK sure acts differently depending on the system.
Over the holidays I will put everyone I know into this game :) Perhaps do it in sequence, play it on a screen, then in VR. It'll be fun to watch :D Oh, and mirroring in direct mode works no issues, only problem is that the Steam overlay only works in 2D so it only shows up on the mirror, but that is better than not showing up anywhere for sure!
Thanks for the reply ZombieBear and the info.
As far as extended mode is concerned , thats a mode I cant use sadly. I use it on a fairly decent gaming laptop which runs stuff fine in direct mode. In extended mode though , the laptop does not let me rotate the oculus to the correct orientation :(
I just bought the game today when I saw it had VR support but I am also unable to play it because I am on Windows 10 with SDK 0.7. An update would be great!
Thanks!
Está de oferrta y pensaba comrparlo por la compatibilidad con las DK2.Aunque la oferta se acaba ^^
this keeps on crashing on my dk2 with driver v6 and nvidia 980 card.
please advise. i would be glad to help debug this.
While 1.0 might not be compatible with DK2 (who knows?), there is still the option to downgrade the Oculus runtime at this moment, so you can play this title in VR. If you want to play games not updated to 0.7, just run 0.6 or even 0.5. Easy! :o
