FAQ's
Here are some frequently asked questions about Project Rebearth:

How will multiplayer work?
Multiplayer won't be multiplayer in the traditional sense. It will not be like other popular city-builders where you have units of different players on the map, or a lot of real time elements. The game will play out over weeks or longer. In the village you are building, you are kinda the only player. When you construct buildings on the map they are stored permanently on the server. For you it is instant, but it is not crucial for gameplay that other players see those buildings instantly. That's how we enable thousands of players on one persistent single planetary map. and trust me, one planet is plenty big. But if it starts to feel crowded, we can easily spin up a second (different?) planet to play on. Maybe after a while, self-hosted servers should be possible, although it doesn't make sense to be only a handful of players on an entire planet.

How much will it cost?
The barrier to entry should be as low as possible. We know not everyone has the same level of disposable income. This is not set in stone yet, but we do not like pay to win and we do not like advertisement. It's a waste of time and human potential.

Will there be war?
NO. Project Rebearth will not have PvP elements. Project Rebearth won't have individually simulated units, so no armies. There are many reasons to not have PvP. people play on the same planet, so people will also join over time. It wouldn't be fun to have your weeks of work destroyed by someone who has been on the planet for way longer. Check out the background story of Project Rebearth. It also wouldn't make sense for people to start fighting. I do agree a massive RTS game on a planetary scale would be epic! I have thought about that idea. Maybe in a future project, but not in Project Rebearth

What era will the game be in / will there be a tech tree to progress through time?
Project Rebearth will be set in a post-apocalyptic utopia. Unchecked climate disasters made the surface of the planet uninhabitable. The only way people could survive was by hiding in shelters underground: For generations the surface eroded and almost all human traces above ground have vanished. After many generations, the earth stabilized again and people started to venture to the surface for longer; starting to rebuild society. (Hey, I needed a reason for the planet to start from a blank slate). Although the style is somewhat medieval, it is very much not. Many technologies and skills have been lost over time. There will be some sort of research, but nothing that brings back planes, skyscrapers or computers.
