Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo

Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo

Saw this during the showcase + Demo Feedback
This was one of the games I figured I'd wishlist from the showcases considering it looked neat. Not seen many Yo-Yo based games and the visual style looked neat.

After having played the demo this feels like a pretty top notch game both on a visual, audible and gameplay level. Love the visuals, the sfc and music are also solid. Not having checked the release date prior to commenting this I'm not sure when it's due to release but the levels in the demo and the boss seem decent. I don't really have any complaints. I didn't actually check but do levels have maps? I know the overworld does, so I wondered if levels are the same.

Also, I didn't check on the boss fight but were there any other moves available? I'm curious as to how these factor in. Especially in regards to the parry slot. The parry seems really good so other options will have to be pretty strong to be viable.

I also like the debt skill system, it seems like an interesting way of progressing and the charm system is always a welcome addition.

I think my only genuine gripe is that movement may be a little slow if needing to backtrack or navigate from one side of the map to the other. Also, it may just be me but with the hjump turning you into a ball, is it possible to have a charm or something that lets you use that as an attack? (Sorry if it does do that and I just didn't notice, too busy getting harassed by bee dudes)

Overall solid demo and I'll be keeping an eye on this :)

I loved the demo and I don't even like puzzle games much.
One of the best games of the Fest so far for me.

I agree regarding slow movement. There is the walk-the-dog move which is a kind of dash, but it would be nice if there was a standard sprint feature to move a bit quicker in general without being locked in to a direction.

Thank you so much for playing and for the valid feedback/ideas! The game does have maps for every location, both interior and exteriors.

Hope you all look forward for the game's release later this year :)

I played the demo and this game just became one of my most anticipated games!
I loved the artstyle, the music, the gameplay. Such a fun game! Congrats to the devs!
Are you planning to release the game in other platforms as well or solely for pc?

Regarding bugs/glitches, I didn't experience any bug per say but I did find an exploit in the 2nd phase of the boss fight, in which if you position yourself in a specific spot, the boss will be stuck in a pattern loop and won't attack you and you can attack him when he passes in front of you. @henriqueac: if you wish to know what the specific spot is, dm me and I'll attach a screenshot in chat.

I didn't see Pipistrello anywhere on Steam. I spent quite a bit of time going through NextFest stuff. I have several "Link's Awakening" style games, and have finished most of them, and have put even more on my Wishlist. Nope, that does not move Steam Discovery™ needle at all.

The only reason I came across it was that KItsune Tails posted "hey look I'm featured in a PC Mag must-try article!". Pipistrello rang in there at number 11 I believe.

I gotta say that the demo did a really good job. It showed off enough of the gameplay, hinted at the potential for more clever interactions, and I think you hit just the right length to "leave em aching for more".

I'm always looking for more Link's Awakening style games so I'd love to hear about which ones you found if you don't mind!

Fingers crossed. Speaking of which I found about this game on the Mina thread. It is funny to think that Pipistrrello may launch before Mina even though it was announced after.
