i7 quadcores with Hyper Threading off gives decent performance boost
I have a i7 2600k at 4.40 8 gigs of ram amd 7970 windows 7 64 bit.

So I went into my bios and disabled simultaneous multithreading (hyper threading) for my cpu and I now have about 5 to 10 more fps didn't do a lot but its defiantly running at higher frame rates. before I was at around 10-30 fps now after turning multithreading off its 20-40 fps. just though I would let you all know.

Hyper threading ?
Leberwurst1234 Dec 1, 2013 @ 6:37pm
not true
markusbrody Dec 1, 2013 @ 6:51pm
umm... yes it is true dont be a troll.
markusbrody Dec 1, 2013 @ 6:55pm
btw white dwarf you have an AMD cpu they dont support SMT!!!! so in your case ya it wouldnt be true. For intel users with a heyper threading cpu this works

Possible as HT splits a core again - if they are balancing using cores and HT runs on the same core then theoretically possible I guess,,, but I run AMD and I didnt have lag till 1.17

sounds like more rain dancing tbh

no rain dance this works I posted on the egosoft forums and people confirmed you get up to 20 fps just by turning off your hyper threading in bios. for this to work you need an intel cpu with hyper threading.

Someone has already suggested.

It did not work.

I'm not gonna mess around with my BIOS settings for this one game.

been playing for a few hours now and it works. all the sectors I used to lag like crazy in are now a lot smoother.

Why would you risk damaging your cpu to play this game better?
Gordini Dec 1, 2013 @ 10:02pm
Why would turning off hyperthreading damage his cpu?

why you post such crap since its obvious that you have no idea what you talking bout.

It is possible that hyperthreading which is only avail on I7 processors can negatively impact game performance, Core I5 cpus of the K revision have often been reported to outperform I7 cpu s in certain situations because of that. But its a two edged blade and not everyone has the BIOS to turn it off. Most notebook users will not have advanced cpu features unlocked in their BIOS for instance.

Its is just another indicator for the shoddy codebase and lackluster optimization of this game (wich claims to be so CPU dependant, and would not benefit of HT), if the allegations are in fact water proof

funny how all the people bashing this have no idea what there talking about. btw sabrehawk the newer i5's do have hyper threading like the i5 3570k. and you guys saying stuff like why would you damge your cpu. if you have no clue what hyper threading is just pass on this thread.

Ok i was unprecise ... the amount of THREADS the I7 can handle is double of the I5 ...you satisfied now geek? For older I5 than the ivy bridge , like sandy bridge that what i said
remains true. Nice try on flaming me fugly dude
