How to REMOVE a mod from X Rebirth
As someone who tends to overwrite the same 2 'Savegame' slots in the interest of organization,
I hit a wall when I wanted to remove a mod and could not restart after because I had the mod in all 3 saves. (the Quicksave included)

This is how you remove a mod and move on.

1) Remove the mod from your newly created 'extensions' folder in your main game file.
2) Make a copy of the 'Quicksave' file in your Documents folder and paste it in a new folder on your desktop, in case you screw it up, you can always just make another copy of the original and try again.
3) Open the savegame with an editor and remove the lines:
<patch extension="NESA" name="MOD NAME HERE"/>
The extensions tend to be at the top of the page after 'Ren Ortani' so you don't have to do a lot of searching.

*Don't forget to overwrite the last few Savegames after you remove the mod.

Just to add as I've become picky about saving as of late, I created a folder in my save directory where I move and rename save files. Then take my last save and rename it to save_001.xml. Thus when I log back in I have plenty of save room with my old save files still available.

Thus if you want to keep a saved game with those mods in or reference should you remove them play and then copy them back into your new save game that doesn't have them.

That sounds like a lot of unnecassary work. I believe my way it infinitely less complicated.

Easier way-- Delete the mod from extensions, then use the "xr save editor" on nexus to remove the mod from the save. Does everything you are doing without having to move through the massive and laggy xml file.

This should be in a sticky. I lost a lot of hours due to mods being stuck in saves
