Excuse me sir would you vote for a bill X that would put every senior out of work with no where to go, no money left in their account and leave them homeless and destitute...or would you vote against it and save them from being homeless, poor and destitute and possibly fix the national debt in the process?
Nice.
Afer XR sorry I don't buy hype anymore. SC looks cool but I'm not going to buy into it until after it's released. That goes for any game from now on.
Of which there are many!
I prefer Freelancer over this but that is b/c I'm a Freelancer junkie. I put so many hours into that...thankfully we did not have time statistics back then.
Later I found the game was lacking in depth once you beat the main story. I also found that from the main sector you could travel 2 to 3 sectors away to get the best weapon in the game and then proceed to slaughter the defense force of every sector w/o ever taking any damage. Freelancer had very upgradeable ships, really great weapons (along with not so great weapons), great effects, great gameplay and great graphics for its day. At its core though without mods it was quite shallow when it came to sandbox play. It was a universe you wanted to live in but the game would not let you and kept pulling you out of it.
Now be honest. How many of you thought Freelancer's mouse control was going to be awful? Space game with a mouse....what are they crazy? Now I prefer it.
Other games:
Novalogic had a great space game too. Tachyon the Fringe. OMG. Played the heck outta that thing. Tons of fun.
I have IWar but sadly never really got into it much. It was not like Freelancer and after playing that it just felt as if nothing else could measure up.
Star Crusader. You could switch sides mid-campaign which was a new twist not yet explored. That was a really great game for its time.
Of course Wing Commander - all of them. Loved them. Not really sandbox games but great.
There was another space game before BC3000AD during the Pentium 1 era that allowed you to land on planets and such. I forget what it was called but believe I have it buried in my collection somewhere. It was put out by a small developer and I'm not sure they every put out any more games. I believe it was an Australian studio.....just forget what the game was called. You could go down to the planet and observe lightning storms in progress and each planet was different according to its composition. Combat was meh...pure joystick...long before Freelancer mouse control.
And then the master of them all. Elite. Ah Elite. How many letter grades did Elite cost me?
