Also on a side not later you will need to build stations in the plot and it's a good idea to instal trade agents on all the station in albion before that point in the plot or you waste hours flying about doing it later.
I am in front of the station where they sell " food rations seller" in DV.
I cant seem to be able to buy it. I have 8 completely different ships for transport because it keeps telling me that my Energy ship can not handle this cargo.
I have BULK, Cargo, Liquid, Energy and a bunch of other transports and it wont let me buy the damn thing.
Its been hard for me to earn any money because no station would let any of my ships have the cargo contents I need.
the only ship that has cargo drones is the energy tranport.
I REALLY miss the part where I was able to just buy it andload it on the ship im piloting.
I do not like this new way of micro managing ships with drones.
Basically, they shrunk the universe, took out 75% of the races, and hung me out to dry by not letting me pilot any ship i buy or earn. and now i have to micromange ships instead of enjoying the game like before.
And If I may add: Both transporters I got in the cam"pain" were destroyed within one hour. Doing nothing than standing around, full manned, with all drones they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ needed. Maybe, just maybe EGOSOFT has cut out their work for them here, too.
As far as I'm concerned, I would not bother any longer to buy anything that flies on it's own in this game. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waste of time and recources. So how am I able to build factories, if the transport vessels die like flies? Even with level 5 captains, engineer and defence officers and all drones you can buy on board, hm?
Can someone please explain how to use attack drones. They seem to be more than useless to me. And they do not come back. So I wasted drones for roughly 4 million credits. That seems a "little" bit expensive for this.
A handbook would be nice. "Any program, that has no handbook or desciption is only a rumor." That's what my project leader said to me once. He was right.
And I think, they deserve the low rating for their game. It's not very much fun, to loose your ships, and you can do absolutly nothing about it. Now they have fixed their trading prices, but that is of little use, because they have forgotten to fix the balancing for the cargo vessels. They got kicked their butts by every klittle raid party. Maybe, just maybe, they should use safe zones, like they had them in ALL their former games.
It makes no sense to trade, if every 5 minutes some mongolish hordes are invading all sectors, destroying the trade vessels. Even arabic raiders knew, that robbing traders was better than killing them: You could rob them more then once. Why is EGOSOFT not able to script something like that? IN 25 YEARS.
I am really pissed now.
You'll need a freighter that can handle "Container" type cargos to handle food rations. If you're initiating trade via the trade menu [shift-T], make sure that the ship that can handle the cargo that you're trading is selected.
Drones in the Skunk, or in your capships? Drones in your capships launch automatically as long as you have a defence officer in those ships. (Not sure if skill comes into this and how.)
Drones in the Skunk are launched manually. [T] brings up the Skunk's drone launch menu. From there, you can launch individual drones, or click "Smart Defence" to launch all of the unmanned drones.
EDIT:
I'm currently playing an extended plot start. I have 25 freighters, 20 of which are running YAT; 11 stations, each with at least one freighter; around 8 (?) mining ships, 4 of which are assigned to stations; and I've so far only lost 1 freighter. Those are all big ships though, and I do load them with combat drones which help a lot OOZ. If you're talking about small ships (Gigurum?), yeah, those drop like flies.
Yes I talked about this little vessels. In my oppinion as a beginner in X-Rebirth: Totally and utterly useless.
I will try YAT, too. I had it installed, not even started tthe game once. Must be because I wrote the mk3 trader script in X2. I do not start a X game without automatic traders. ;)
Start of the game, I seem to remember relying on captured Titurels. They're versatile and big, but slow as hell.
EDIT:
Been a while since I last played X3, but that was a very good feature! Yeah, I gain satisfaction from setting up the machine and watching it move. Fun when all of the moving parts go smoothly. But also fun when they don't, then I get to troubleshoot!
Seriusly, I'd really like to meet the genious who wrote this game.
I wouldn't trust anything to gigurums, all my Devries and Albion zone traders gigurums exploded... any small raiding party is a major financial setback when using gigurums, it gets damaged, escorts die, and in the next trade run, because this small ship crawls to the slowest speeds possible, explode.
Have you ever seen a marauder titurel siting near a highway exit exploding everything leaving it? Egosoft should just remove gigurums from sale...
Now capital ships are the only ones to survive small raiding parties, and can stand a chance against bigger parties, so far in all my game time, i have lost only a few of them, in my recent game only a fedhelm and its escorts got destroyed, to a suposedly SS Raiding party Drostan, probably the raiding party got my fedhelm alone, and just wrecked it before the escorts arrived, then since the escorts lost the escortee they sit idle and died...
