Great Mods for this game -( Nexus mods )

If there is anyone out there who are only using the steam workshop mods - I highly recommend installing nexus mod manager as there are some unique ones there that are pretty amazing (mainly visuals/ texture mods ).

Bare in mind that sometimes Mods can cause the game to crash ( ive not had a single issue with mods and this game )

Yisha re-texture - this makes her look a lot better imo

nebula - planet - stars - retexture = this is just fantastic

rebirth re-imagined - this changes the shaders and lighting - a much less cartoony / colour saturated look , (a more realistic look) - a big improvement in my opinion - looks almost like x3 on crack ;)
(I had to change the gamma a bit for this and I also set my monitor to game mode to get it looking a bit less washed out and dark - but worth the effort ) and you can just toggle off the effect with the ' Scroll Lock ' key if your not keen .

Players ai docking bays decluttered - you can watch the world go by much better with this while docked on your frieghter -.

Reduced mass traffic - this has given me a noticable fps boost

Pimp my skunk - this has improved the look of the skunk 10 fold in my opinion

Young females - Ive nothing against old people but this mod just looks better ..

Better highway alphas - less like flying through a multicoloured tube- a big improvement.

it doesnt take long to download and subscribe to them using the nexus mod manager and it has really improved the game for me -

they all work fine with the steam workshop mods -

( first download and install the nexus mod manager and create a free account and verify the account by email - its easy to do -
Then allow it to detect xrebirth when you first launch the exe file
i had to change the default game to xrebirth on launch becasue i already use it for fallout 3 and skyrim this is done in the top right of the nexus mod manager window)

then let nexus discover the xrebirth root directory - it does it automatically usually.

then go here
http://www.nexusmods.com/xrebirth/mods/top/?

this is a list of 25 top downloaded mods - ( it has more -' just select 25 more at the bottom')

click them one by one and it should automatically launch nexus mod manager and download it automatically -

Then select the mod from the directorys and click - Add Mod ( the icon near the top on the side bar )

reimagined you need to download the .Z zipped file and just drag all the files into the xrebirth steam directory - but if you are happy with the colours and shading then dont do this mod .
i created a back up of the x rebirth directory just in case .

and thats about it - as these mods dont really affect gameplay - i would assume that future patches wont make these mods incompatible - but if you need to remove them - nexus mod manager makes that as easy as activating them -

do it - check out my screen shots on rebirth - for some reason they dont show the effect i see on my screen ( i see a much nicer image on my actual monitor ) although i put this down to either the reimagined mod not appearing - or my monitor settings are super bright .

You need to actually copy the files into the root directory for this mod - you cant just download through nexus mod manager :)

I had to adjust the gamma till it looked right as well - and if you change your mind press Scroll lock ( next to prt scr button ) to remove it - easy peasey :)

I've had the same thing with recording video. It looks nothing at all like the real thing.

Yes, I would agree with the OP. I've used Nexus for several games I play (primarily X Rebirth and Skyrim) and their mod manager is easy to use and Nexus usually has a better selection of mods than Steam Workshop.

I've used the manager a lot for fallout and NV but it has never worked for rebirth and I have rebirth as default now. Nevermind I was using IE and switched to chrome it works now.

I like the "for those who like the games" that is irrelevant to a mod topic. If one doesn't like the game as much as you do, suddently the mods doesn't work or something?

Very subtle way to add a "♥♥♥♥ you haters!!" where none is needed given the topic. But thanks anyway, next time I'll have the opportunity to play test a rebirth version elsewhere, I'll make sure not to download a mod since I'm more than skeptic about the game. I suppose it will probably spare me the fate of my PC exploding, or ripping space time continuum... I dunno, but given that "for those who", better be safe...

Rename that thread to something like that"updated list on sefull mod on nexus site", will makes it less kiddy and more relevant to boot.

That re-imagine mod... Does it have any affect on performance? I liked the look of it for long time, but skipped it cause I want as much performance as possible.

yeah doesnt it just look soo much better? - the sun looks great - not like a console now :) it was waaaay too orange for me - this reimagined mod is excellent.

Yeah unfortunately the mods are essential for me too - or i would likely not like the game as much - but thats true of lots of games- i couldnt play fallout 3 without the highres textures and backpack mod - etc .

there is no noticable performance decrease at all - infact if you install the mass traffic reduction mod - it gives your cpu something better to work on and improves the frames- there is still mass traffic just noticable less of it - until the game is better optimised - this mod is great -

(I am running an amd8320 and a 7950 - 8gigs or ram @1600 and an ssd with 850W psu - with the settings on medium/High and veiw distance set to half to acheive good framerates .)

the re-imagined mod just changes the shaders and lighting - i turn shadows off completely ( shadows seem to really impact fps - )
