How to make tar?

Regarding how to make tar, I cannot add pine logs to the kiln. If it was pine wood, I could add it, but it made charcoal instead of tar.
Can you please tell me how to create tar?

それを窯で適温で燃やすとタールができます。

I think if I split the pine logs with a flint axe, I could have made six parts of the pine logs.
