I agree with most of your points. We will be toning down wolves considerably in the near future. Wolf morale is not where it should be at the moment.
Oh bless you that would be so lovely. Would be nice to not have to save after every action when I'm outside or save every time I'm about to go outside out of fear of catching the 'wolf plague'.
I wouldn't say that's the *most* important issue here but it is a big one now that you mention it. For wolf fights in winter I had all leather clothes except gloves along with fur mittens and fur cloak, and in spring I have all leather clothes. Neither clothing set seemed to have influenced the outcomes
It reduces cabin fever, allows for producing protein and growing Fireroot, lets you separate corpses and rotten remains from where you sleep, can hold storage pots for water, and even provides a little firewood, all without being attacked.
Once setup, you can clean up and be safe for days until your wounds are healed enough to go back into wolf territory.
A related question, is it only in combat you can change weapon. I wanted to have my torch ready to scare off wolves.
I don't think it's they sleep so much as they have patrol paths. I'll see them on my home tile for two separate time periods (afternoonish and late evening). Problem is they take multiple in game hours to move on which can be really frustrating if you need to do some things like get food, firewood, etc.
Sorry I didn't see this sooner, but yeah as far as I'm aware you can only change your main/off hand weapon in combat (or by virtue of only having those weapons on you).
I don't think they sleep. However, they do travel around the map, on the same route and at approximately the same time each day, so with experience you can figure out when in the day they are likely to be (or not be) in any specific tile.
Using Google Translate (which may not be 100% accurate), this comment reads:
"In the latest beta, I learned about the claustrophobia debuff, but I don't know what to do in winter. There is almost nothing to do in 30 days. I hope there will be a winter animal that can be captured, such as an elk that can pull a sled? You have to find something to do in winter, right? You can't always let the wolves bite you. And there are no special plants in winter, right? Give a good review to the new "Stone Mill", come on."
To be honest, most of my winter activity involves wood carving, flute playing, and gathering up wood and occasionally water when my stock runs out. I think fireroot can allegedly survive in the winter but I don't think it grows much if at all. I have the cabin fever debuff pretty much all the time but it's bearable if you have a nice enough house at least. Haven't played in a few updates though, so I'm not sure what the wolves are like to deal with at the moment.
