Slay the Spire 2

Slay the Spire 2

aeonglass is overpowered
Not only does it hit like a truck doing more damage than test subject most hits, it also puts near unavoidable damage in your hand that increases rapidly. This boss has ended every a10 run it appears in for me. Nothing i do can stop it. I was winning a10 about 1/3 of the time before it was added for context.

last run I had compact, I had reboot, I had frost orbs out the wazoo. good damage scaling with feral + helix drill and claw and it still absolutely wrecked my deck, after taking 10 damage from test subject i thought id be able to beat aeon, but no. its damage scaling is off the charts. especially with the recent changes you cant get rid of the wither like before, which feels pretty bad imo, having unavoidable damage in your hand is insane.

Doormaker was a creative, fun boss. Why not just buff Doormaker slightly? Some review bombing, from an insane player base shouldn't have deleted the best boss the game had to offer.

I think wither is far to impactful for most decks to deal with. Even with a compact i was only able to delete a few of them as i had a feral deck and was adding one per tun or more. id have to draw compact every other turn to win, and honestly i might not have been able to do it even then.

How are you guys beating this boss with defect? or silent for that matter? most decks cant block for 50 a turn and deal with the garbage damage cards after reshuffling.

People were losing their ♥♥♥♥ claiming he was unbeatable already. Suggesting to buff him is an interesting choice.

The first time I've met Aeonglass was with defect at a6, I thought it was a joke of a boss playing 3-4 claws a turn. Got absolutely destroyed at A9 necro later. It was all before the rework when withers were playable for 1 energy. After the rework, I only saw it in multiplayer thrice, 2p once and 3p twice,

I haven't got past A9 yet, but overall winning 30% of your A10 runs probably means you need to try and customise the game to make it harder.
Aeonglass hasn't impact my A10 Ironclad/Regent runs at all. They simply exhaust/transform status cards.

For the Silent and Necrobinder, I find it very difficult to beat the Aeonglass. These characters used to be just spamming block/weakness. Now I actually need DPS to beat the Aeonglass.

Still, I find it enjoyable as it is the only thing that counters the Silent. Without this Aeonglass buff I don't want to play the Silent at all. She was broken and nothing countered her mechanisms in the game.
nah it's def completely fked up for silent and necro. you need overwhelming frontloaded damage but that's not always ever offered by the game
Do you guys just not believe Megacrit or something when they say why doormaker was removed? Is it truly so difficult to believe that they might agree with the idea that it was too complex for the game?

Aeonglass is probably overtuned right now, but is much easier to properly tune than doormaker was, let them cook a little...
NaveGreed has been wrecking the Aeonglass with the Defect. You might want to watch some of his stream replays on YouTube.

I don't play the Defect much but it looks quite strong.

Doormaker was the easiest act 3 boss, the devs even said so in their posts about it, Doormaker ended less runs than ts and queen. It allowed you to thin your deck and was the most interesting mechanically of the 3 imo, Most interesting boss in all of sts1 and 2.

Maybe someone with an 80%+ a10 winrate would want to make the game harder, like jorbs or navegreed, but winning 1/3 is not the best by any stretch of the imagination. I dont desire to make the game any harder, its already a tough challenge. Hence my issue with Aeonglass, maybe the top 1% of players are enjoying the challenge of this insane boss but the rest of us are going to get facerolled much more often than not unless we get a lucky clone or have flak cannon. even then honeslty, aeonglass is ridiculously overtuned.

going from doormaker to aeonglass feels very bad. especially with the most recent wither change. They will probably tune it down next patch.

Yea he will probably receive a lot more adjustments before he is pushed to live. Doormaker was the same way.

most of us cant play the game like navegreed or jorbs. watching them is fun but ultimately isnt very helpful honestly. also when you watch youtube, you are seeing their best runs, not their average runs.

you cant get a feel for how YOU would make descisions at all, like maybe i shouldnt have taken the second glacier at the end of act 2, or the third claw in act 3. its very hard to determine where decks are failing with a game like this. Maybe i should have pathed differently and gotten 1-2 more elites to MAYBE get a good relic? but when your taking 0 damage from act 3 hallways and you get absolutely stomped by the act 3 boss its near impossible to understand why. like it boils down to 'i should have gotten lucky and been able to pick flak cannon or had more focus offered to me' thats not helpful at all tbh.

i have faith in the devs to balance the game out. just trying to understand how the average player is beating this guy. i even said they will probably tune it down next patch.

also whats wrong with disagreeing with the devs? they arent gods lmao. your perspective is a bit contrived tbh. jorbs always disagrees with some of the balance changes are you commenting on his videos like you just commented on this?

doormaker was a great boss, like i get that megacrit thought it was too complicated but honestly in my opinion they need to add more enemies like doormaker not delete it from the game. you should be forced to think about your turns, not just play whatever you happen to draw with your remaining deck in mind, doormaker made you pause and think, instead of just throwing everything you had at is. queen forces you to choose 1 of 3 cards per turn to play, thats cool, test subject forces you to play around the first phase by not using all of your skills but its ultimately just a damage check. but aeonglass? is just 'get lucky with the cards you are offered or die' that doesnt feel good at all.

yeah. i dont play ironclad at all lmao my least favorite ch. and if your not playing a specific regent deck with transform cards you will struggle. i just beat it with regent but didnt have a transform deck, just big sword go boom.

i hear you about silent needing a decent act 3 challenge, but aeon is a bit overtuned even for silent imo. unless your going near infinite with a decent amount of discard.
Envenom/Afterimage does really well into Aeonglass with Silent.

Alternatively if you have a decent amount of discard and get the Reflections event you can break the mirror to double your deck size. The fight is usually over before you shuffle once if you do this in my experience.

I haven't fought it a ton yet with Silent since I rotate, but I'm 2 for 2 vs it so far with them.

Silent has some cards which can work well with discarding the status effects -
For obvious reasons, things like Prepared, Dagger Throw, Survivor (which you always have ofc). Tools of the Trade is absurd for this too. I was also pleasantly surprised when I was playing shiv and fought him, I got offered Storm of Steel and this ended up discarding quite a few of the status cards that way too.

The problem Silent has in this fight is not having status in hand, it is low damage and deck cycling which forces many more copies of this status card into your deck and you have no real means of actually deleting them. You have to have enough damage going into this fight as silent to avoid a lot of deck cycling.

Silent also has access to removing artifact (not always possible ofc) and if you get that then she can start applying weak much more early in the fight which may also help with damage pressure.

I would also make sure to take some dex cards cos she really needs it if she doesnt have burst to take him down super quick. Its a very hard fight for her and probably most difficult boss for her atm. Aeonglass might be OP, might not be, i think its the most character dependant boss rn which isnt ideal, but could be fixed in a myriad of ways.

Whenever I read descriptions like this, I wonder:
"Surely your run had more going for itself than this, right?"
Hits harder than Test Subject? The third phase sure. A run I wrecked Aeonglass I actually died to Test Subject second phase because its damage ramped up so quickly I didn't have time to set up.

lmao what else am i supposed to have when i run feral?

I grabbed the powers that helped me along the way, i had go for the eyes, hologram, glacier, etc.. honestly you people act so high and mighty its incredible. like im supposed to have every good card. you have 300 hours in the game but you dont know that you cant get every card you want every run? for example i didnt see a single all for one or overheat which would have helped tremendously.

ive won plenty of a10 defect runs with this kind of deck. i was taking zero damage from act 3 hallway fights, took 10 from test subject, and aeonglass just destroyed me. im looking for advice, you are just giving pretention.
