I'll clarify again: No. I expect them to just wait to release the full game
Fun fact: STS2 had over 2 years of development on Unity before they switched to open-source engine Godot. They switched because of the greedy 'per-installation-fee' that Unity was going to charge developers.
I'm gonna say that probably had a huge impact on the current state of their game.
I'm aware of that, I'm a huge fan of StS and have followed Mega Crit. It's unfortunate and honestly I think it was the best decision for the devs and other indie developers.
However, this is not an excuse for a large indie developer to release an unfinished game and I will not support the practice (especially with such a gap between games). I have the same complaints for Hades 2 releasing in EA when the original came out several years ago as well.
If you don't want to buy the game until Early Access is done, then by all means you can wait. But arguing that they shouldn't be allowed to do Early Access at all, why? Why do you seem to think that's ontologicially evil?
Awareness, both "self" and "general", still missing. I was clarifying my position, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, not contradicting it. But again, that requires one to understand nuance, which you clearly can't.
Come to think of it, you're right, the last balance change was at the end of 2019/start of 2020, and they've been working on this for 3+ years. So, accounting for the conception and planning stages, where they decided on their next project and how to do it.... Yeah, it's likely that they actually did start work on this almost immediately after finishing with 1. Huh.
You can't avoid spoilers for 3 years it'll take to full release.
Additionally, saying a company owes it's consumers nothing is wild take. As a consumer, you should express your disappointment and criticism. If you don't agree with my opinion on an EA release that's fine, but shielding a product from any criticism is perhaps the worst take.
Just because you have some weird beef with the model that allowed StS1 to be as refined and polished as it is, does not mean they owe you specifically a different release model.
You need to recognize that whatever you're upset with is a you problem. You can always wait to play it afterwards, the game will be here.
What a coincidence! That's what I tell people whenever I try to gaslight them, too!
Yes and no, imo. They've been pretty hush about it and given us next to nothing for the last several years. To such an extent that when the board game released, there were people who reasonably assumed THAT was the next project they were referring to. Only people that had thoroughly read and remembered all of the updates were able to DEDUCE (there wasn't even anything explicitly saying it, mind you, you just had to figure it out) that they hadn't decided to switch to making board games, or were just sitting back and selling out, or some ♥♥♥♥ like that. There was only a little actual evidence that this wasn't the case, until this past October, when they released Dancing Duelists and were like "oh, btw, we actually are working on a new video game". So they've been almost totally quiet for around 4 years, and now they just drop all of this ♥♥♥♥ on us from out of nowhere. It's BEEN a case of too little, too late (or over too long a period of time, in this case), and NOW it's a case of too much, too early. It's cost them some fans, and several would-be customers have sworn to never buy anything they make ever again. Some of those people might even be serious. But either way, you can bet there's gonna be at least a little review-bombing going on, as a form of protest.
In other words, whoever's doing Mega Crit's PR is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CRAP at it. To say the least.
well, i mean, that's kinda what i'm saying is if it's still almost a year away, should they be telling us about it now? because then all the already pissed off people are gonna be like "aww jeez, put down that friggen muffin and get to work already!"
I don't have a horse in this race. I rage quitted the original StS at around the midpoint difficulties because i hit a brick wall and just wasn't getting any better at it.
I used to watch a youtuber called Jorbs play it and then i found out about Monster Train from him
now i'm playing Monster Train, and i literally just found out about this because i was typing slay the spire into google and google tried to autocomplete say the spire 2 and then i went to YT and YT was recommending me a video about this game.
I hadn't even thought about this game series for years.
