Can you clarify a little bit more in detail - When you click Widescreen does the game go totally black?
In the elevator room, if the elevator comes I cant walk backwards to the kitchen, i have to use the map. Using the map breaks immersion for me because as Katie Reed the struggling writer we cant use maps, we need to walk our way through the house to behold all the mystery and awesome artwork of the game.
There are secret objects in the game but I cant return to the train places or other places to get any I missed. There is no visible indicator on the map to tell me if I collected the secret object in a room or not, a gold frame like in Nearwood or to fit the game a portrait frame would be helpful for showing a room has the object collected or some other icon on the map.
During puzzle scenes in the burning rooms, there is this random LOUD crashing sound, it gets to be a bit much repeating every 5-30 secs it seems. Maybe that crash sound could be removed during puzzles since we kinda sit there for a bit finding items, had to mute my sounds during those which means I cant hear the really good music :(
(ticking widescreen puts the game in 4:3 with those weird black bars at the side, so I left that off since the menu option is broken :P)
In the Gallery room there is a puzzle scene, one item asked to be located is a bell, there are clearly two bells in the scene, one the hotel desk kinda bell and the other one of those hand held bells, maybe instead of bell it should say handheld bell???
During Bonus in the front yard there is a Hidden object puzzle that asks for a "brush", there are two brushes visible in the scene, maybe labeling one scrub brush and the other paint brush would fix this?
Is such a great game, please consider these to make a great game even greatier!
In regards to the scenes, I think I have posted a walthrough on the forum somewhere and it may be of help. Many times its a misunderstanding of what the scene is looking for.
Both times have triggered what appears to be the same error in deleting a mesh.
Diagnostic logs are available if needed.
Just to piggyback on this, there are too many items that can be used in certain situations, but the game doesn't let me, "because of reasons." For example: I can get a pot of water from the kitchen, but that pot of water can't put out the fire in the fireplace. Oh no, only a bucket of water will do for that. Also, there are two lanterns in the game, but only one can be given to the statue by the front door. It would be nice if we got a "we're glad you're thinking" statement like "This lantern doesn't fit in his hand, I'll need to find a different one" or "This pot doesn't hold enough water to put out the fire." or something. Even if it's a silly reason. Just don't make like only water from one source can put out a fire.
Also, the story in general didn't explain the ending objective very well: your grandmother wants you to clear her name, but it isn't until the very end that you just tack on "And then they gave me a bunch of documents to clear her name!" At no point was "you gotta save some souls to do it" part of the deal. And was Gabriel secretly hoping that Maggie Fox's name WOULDN'T get cleared, since he invited Kate to stay in the house where she couldn't get word out to the press? Heck, we don't even figure out why her name needed clearing in the first place until the bonus chapter (although it could be argued that Kate was well aware of what her grandmother and great-aunts did, and thus didn't need to explain it out loud.)
Still, it was a good setting with good puzzles apart from the aforementioned inventory puzzle deal. But that's my feedback for you.
