Do I need to play the first YIIK before this or not?

this is a demo for the free 1.5 update which will come out soon(TM)

Once it fully releases it *will* be the first YIIK. I don't think you have to play the og at all though. If you've played the original version around beforehand, the things the update adds and changes may resonate with you even more.

The saves from this will also carry over to 1.5 when it releases
