TL;DR: When you breed dogs in real life, you can never ever in a million years get a purebred from crossing two different breeds of dog. The game should at least TRY to mimic this.
Steam only refunds if you have 2 hours or less though. That's what I'm getting at. They may be able to refund if you could explain it thoroughly, but it'd probably be a once in a lifetime thing.
P.S. This is a low budget (I am assuming) indie game. I doubt the devs have the manpower to make a lot of 'mutt' sprites for breeding.
P.S. It might be better to look into some of the many browser bassed dog sim games online. From what I know there are no dog games for the pc that allow you to breed dogs. Well other than the old PetZ 5 series.
I want to go into more detail in another post (need to pack for the Google Indie Game Fest this weekend!) but I just want to state that each dog breed is hand done - even the palette swaps - and making them is one of the most time consuming things in Dog Sled Saga's development! I would be thrilled to do breed blending, or fulfill every request in our breed request thread here, but it's just not possible with the way our dogs are created.
