Watermelon minigame on Reja Farm crashes the game?

If I talk to the NPC on the Farm, he will take me as far as the Watermelon collection minigame rules screen. If I try to start the minigame Pier Solar will crash immediately.

This could be a serious issue for me going forward as I will never really know whether talking to an NPC is going to start another minigame, and cause a crash.
