Please Fix VR!
I have Been waiting for a Very long time now for something to happen with the VR support for the game, but the Devs have not updated the game in over a year and it almost seems like they've abandoned the game. But i have hope that if the devs actually fix up VR mode properly, it could be a Super important game for the future of VR, and be a game that every VR headset should have ( sort of like how everyone has VRchat and Beat saber).

There are currently a Few major problems with doing tabletop games in VR.

Visibility and Readability: Most headsets will have a hard time Reading images on a card because of the screen door effect and overall image quality. and having a clear Understanding of what is happening on the opponents side of the table without asking your opponent to read out every card is important. having a tool that can show a card or a object in a larger view would be a way to fix it. sort of like a gun with a lazer, point it at what you want to inspect, and it will appear bigger for you to see. Or with that same tool. highlight an area to have a Top down view available. Visibility will be the biggest challenge to figure out.

Object handling: this is a hard one, but i beleive we can look to Resonite VR for the answers. it's intuitive lazer system in resonite can be used in tabletop sim pretty easily, and it would work for most scenarios. this could also be a Tool instead of just a default lazer on the hand, which would stop people from accidentally manipulating objects.

Controls: currrently, the controls are EXTREMELY bad to use. I feel like the game should focus on if you were in a room instead of just floating around in space. the way to move around is very frustrating to use. again we can look to other VR games for inspiration such as Vrchat or Demeo. Demeo especially because its basically a DND board game. Demeo is very easy to move around in, and the ability to grab and zoom/make yourself smaller to inspect elements could be super interesting in TTS. also, we are in VR, there is no need to physicaly move over to an object and pick it up, just lazer over it and use the force to move it to your hand or move it across the table.

VR approperate menus: If a VR mode is to be made properly, the menus need to change, the current way its set up only frustrates rather than helps a person in vr. its complicated to get to, its complicated to go though the menus, and its complicated to change the settings. again, we can look to other games. Vrchat has quick access menus for quick, commonly used settings, such as volume. and then a expanded menu with "made with VR in mind" buttons and sliders. Most games have Hand bound menus making it easy to understand where to find the menus instead of clicking on a button in the world. and if tools are gonna be introduced, we could look to the Valve index home world, where its just a wheel of relevant tools, which could be customizable depending on the game you are playing.

(optional) Custom Avatars: VR should express yourself and your creativity, Using VRM or VSFavatar, (open source and unity compatable) should be simple enough, imagine being able to use a avatar of your D&D character while playing with your friend Super cool!!

Finally, My biggest problem: it's too complicated.
While Tabletop sim is really good as a desktop application, it is awful as a VR one. we need to bring all of these issues, and make it stupid simple. like Reeeaallly stupid simple. the only way a VR mode is gonna work is if there is as little friction between the player, their friends, and the game in front of them. everything should make sense, everything should be clear, and should be explained when necessary.

it should feel like going over to a buddies and dropping your MTG deck on the table and playing right there. it should feel like you in your living room with a monopoly board on the coffee table, ready to slap your friend for charging you $600. it should feel like a game night with the boys playing D&D.

I have no idea if the devs will see this, or even if they are developing the game at all anymore. But I have been looking for a way to play Card games, board games, anything of the sort in VR for a long, long time. Vrchat is Ill equip, resonite can't do it, no other game can do what tabletop sim dones. there is no alternative to tabletop sim. I Beleive with all my being, that if VR was taken seriously for this game, it Would be the #1 game to get for any VR user. with out question.

Thank you for reading.

i agree and wish someone would pay attention what you said is very true!

The VR controls to move stuff is TERRIBLE!

If you want VR, you are better off using Tabletop Playground, which was built for VR from the beginning.
