Servers down
It gives me an error message saying failed to connect to master server. Is this game like banned for copyrights or something? I hope not...

tried going to their homepage, thats down too. the first time i tried i got some error message, but now the connection just times out. the problem looks like its purely technical.

No, direct connect still requires the master server to be online.

Direct Connect works, as people are still broadcasting non-hotseat games right now.

Direct connect does not require the master server to be online. Also you should still be able to join your friends through the Steam Friend's list.

Joining via Steam friends didn't work for me earlier right after the server went down, I had to give them my IP for direct connect.
